  1. Let me quote myself:

Unless I've misread, the original poster has never played the original World of Darkness.

Thats true, and I also did not know there was a new world of darness either...I'm a total noob to the scene and was only hoping to get some info before I spent money on books and what not. Thanx for all the info though...I have a feeling my WoD campaign is gonna be prety cool =)

  2. We're going to try a d20 Modern campaign now, and since we're all used to systems that use hit locations, I was wondering if anyone knows of a smooth way to implement it into d20. The way we're thinking of invovles using second d20 or d100 roll to determine hit location after youve made your attack roll but maybe there is a more creative way to do it?

Try using a vorpal dice, that designated what part of the body you hit.

  3. Ive played it lots and lots, both the old edition and the second edition. Its a great setting and the ruleset is above average(combat is especially fun and gory). The bad things are:
    • The magic system is broken. Since you only need to roll dice to suceed in casting a spell, you can cast them an infinite number of times. There is usually no save roll guaranteeing mages to do major damage every turn. The spells are also poorly balanced and there are too few of them to choose from, you end up with just a single attack spell which you spam again and again.
    • Unlike Call of Cthulhu, you only have 6 insanity points before your character goes permanently insane. These insanities are mostly character-killers so after 6 point, you have to make a new one. There are also no temporary insanities to simulate the effect of seeing something horrendous.
    • Chaos magic is grossly unbalanced. Most of the spells cause mutation in the victim, which means your average chaos-fighting character will end up looking like the toxic avenger in no time. This has been the no.1 character killer in our games, as a mutated character will be swiftly killed by the law, if not by his own party members.
    • The economics are completely and utterly broken. If you follow the rules, it would take a wealthy merchant 10 years to save enough money to buy a single horse. While on the other hand, you can make enough money to buy 10 horses by buying and selling wool.

    are u talking about mage?

  4. Edit: Onee thing about the old books worth mentioning is that they were never really intended to be played in a cross-setting. The powerlevels are extremely fluctuating (where mages can beat up on anyone), but more than that the settings are contradicting eachother a lot. (Except Wraith and to a degree Changeling, although those aren't very compatible with any other game anyway). For instance, each of the games has this larger than life organisation that secretly rules the world (Camarilla, Technoracy, Pentex Corporation) and having three such distinct powerplayers just feels implausible. These are issues that have been fixed in the new WoD, so no matter what people may think of it, it is much more suitable for mixed parties.

wow...great description, I have researched morei into vampire: the requiem and I would also like to know more about the new WoD...would anyone happen to have a suggestion about which is the best or... "most fun" setting...and so even tho the settings dont cross paths with one another, u still use the WoD book for all of them, as well as the other WoD supplements?

  5. Quite a good game, but don't fall for the hardcore element is my advice. Keep the whole thing in perspective, and for some good hints try the game Vampire the Masquerade, Bloodlines.

Lol, thats what got me into the whole game in the first place...awesome game =)

  6. CREEPY STORY...few years ago,a mother and father decided they needed a break,so they wanted to head out for a night on the town.

So they called their most trusted babysitter.

When the babysitter arrived, the two children were already fast asleep in bed.

So the babysitter just got to sit around and make sure everything was okay with the children.

Later at night, the babysitter got bored and went to watch tv

but she couldn't watch it downstairs because they didnt have cable downstairs

(the parents didn't want the children watching too much garbage).

So she called them and asked them if she could watch cable in the parents' room.

Of course the parents said it was ok,

but the babysitter had one final request.

She asked if she could cover up the clown satue in their bedroom

with a blanket or cloth, because it made her nervous.

The phoneline was silent for a moment,

(and the father who was talking to the babysitter at the time)

said....take the children and get out of the house....

    we'll call the police...we don't have a clown statue...

the children and the babysitter got murdered by the clown.

It turned out to be that the clown was a killer that escaped from jail.

If u don't repost this within 5 minutes

the clown will be standing next to your bed at 3:00 am

with a knife in his hand. There i said it so the evil clown won't kill me.

  7. Now, this might have been brought up before, but has anyone else noticed that in KotOR 1 it seemed like Revan "spread" the force to her allies, not like turning them into jedi, but making them stronger (and I dont mean by leveling), while it would appear that the exile did make her allies stronger through force bonds, so it kinda appeared that she was "recieving" the force through her allies via the force bonds she made, so she wasn't necessarily "taking" the force from her allies, but she still was dependant on the bonds she made with them. I guess one can say this is kind of like "evolution" so to speak, if the only way she can feel the force is to form bonds with people, then she became adept at creating them thus showing a "survival of the fittest" theme.

Once again, I am sorry if this topic has already been mentioned and I am also sorry if I am wrong in my claims... :x

  8. Ok, I am a male gamer, but I feel that the story felt more "correct" with a female, I think that there was kind of a "mother daughter thing going on between kreia and the exile, as well as a jealous sister aspect with atris, and as for the romance (that was totally cut from the game) u had not only disciple, but Atton AND Bao Dur.

I just wanted to add one more thing, with Mira, u kind of had a best friend vibe about the Exile asking her "Do you understand men?" and Mira's hilarious reply.

  9. It being mother's day, I think we should take some time to remember the various mothers and mother-figures in SW. Let me start with Padme Amidala, who was a good mother for finding good homes for her twins who would one day save the galaxy...
