  1. Again Obsidian is not answering or denying nothing at the moment because doing so would be risky for them.. The site had the opportunity to talk with Chris Avellone because they didin't have the opportunity to talk with Obsidian yet. Keep in mind this is a delicate moment for Obsidian they are releasing Deadfire accept or refuse an interview can put them in a bad situation. Look i am with Avellone in this but i can understand why Obsidian now is not answering and i also i can undestand why. That site put up an interview attacking that site or labeling umprofessional is just stupid as it is... Sometimes you public a side of the story then when avaliable you public the other side.
  2. It didn’t even look like they even tried. Otherwise there would be a “Representatives of Obsidian Entertainment declined to comment for this story” disclaimer. As such, this is just a rehash of Avellone’s litany of grievances re-circulated beyond the original confines of the Codex. Yet another example of the distressing tremd towards news aggrandizing journalism. Like i said Obsidian won't make delcaration not until Deadfire is released and even after i don't think they will release declaration on the matter that could generate a cycle of posts and answers and i don't think is in the best interest of Obsidian doing so.. The fact Obsidian had financial problems is nothing new and the Avellone posts seems coherent with those times Obsidian had problems in such matter.. Despite that blaming a site because they reach first the part willing to speak is absolutely unfair in the end if someone don't want to answer your question or is known to don't answer questions what you can do in that regard? I am sure that site will contact Obsidian when the game is released answering now is not bound to do any good and a refusal to answer such declaration is also not good. I do understand Obsidian not wanting to answer right now. But if Avellone went forward so boldly in such declarations i am inclined to believe him he never did something like that in past and is clear to me that what he is attacking is the ethic of the upper management.
  3. Problem is... Obsidian is silent on the matter... and i understand that since POE2 is about to release.
  4. another juicy article with details From Chris: Owner share divisions are here, if curious, TechRaptor asked some more questions over the weekend: https://techraptor.net/content/interview-chris-avellone-obsidian-entertainment
  5. I don't excuse Chris for this... He did the thing i would do in his position just check the comments of that guy before that post before reacting in scandal...
  6. This is... heartbreaking. The man whose magnum opus is a goddamn virtual novel about the subjective nature of truth and reality should never have to resort to words like "shill", "colossal ****" or even childish name calling. Stop this madness, Chris. You're still my personal hero, but however justified you feel in your crusade, this is not the way to do it. The internet will not let you forget this one. Sadly Shills are a reality despite what someone would believe.. Remember sword coast legends? yes the game that flopped? the last days we had a shill on the forum attempting to gain consensus and bring damage control. But people always think is wrong if someone point out someone else is a shill. Seems like being a shill is more morally acceptable than point out someone is one of them. That makes you think right? I adore this kind of blind reverence to some utterly naïve and redundant terminology and empty echo-chamber remarks. Enjoy the cult camaraderie and amity, all shrouded in esoteric compliance and mutual understanding... I am glad you are loving it is such warming for the heart bring a smile to someone else.. Beside those thing happens and that answer of chris i just one of a series to the same guy that if you read back on the codex you can see totally why Chris in the end answered like that.. hell i would do that too in his place.. And i am a person that appreciate more honesty than political correct crap. I indeed respect Chris talent but despite of that even him is human like everyone else and being so is also bound to make mistakes. I don't see mistakes on that.

  8. Is nice to see how people made up the most silly things in order to defend a company. Chris is writing this because is drunk now? Really? Is not like you have to believe on Chris.. but at least have so dignity and don't made up such silly theories... That is sad.
  9. Video on the argument: https://youtu.be/FisYHeay4HA
  10. another piece of the puzzle from Chris. More information: The de-ownering separation contract I was given was pretty strict (which again is good business, especially if you’re pretty sure the person is going to have to sign). Among the first elements I objected to was that the contract had a “you must sign this in 10 days or else you get nothing.” For the record for any other employees in this situation (at least in California), this is something you can absolutely fight back on, so do check with your lawyer. To be fair, they were pushing for a swift resolution along with the NDA, which again is good business - and according to discussions after the departure, that clause seemed to have worked with other employees who didn’t check (they were in similar financial situations, though). What was troublesome was the fact the NDA wasn’t mutual despite the mutual separation agreement (they could say whatever they wanted, but I would have no legal recourse – not only about that, but anything), which understandably, made me uncomfortable. Again, that’s good business if you can get someone to sign that. I did argue that a mutual separation agreement should, in fact, be mutual. As I said, the 10 days or else did turn out not to be legally binding when confronted on and may have been dropped, but that was the specs of the contract I was hit with, and another reason I didn’t sign it. (The medical insurance time limits I couldn’t do anything about.) I don’t recall much about the Tyranny contract offer because I didn’t want to work on it based on what was going on, and arguably, I was too focused on the primary contract. If I had signed the first de-ownering contract, however, with the non-competes, the problem would be that Tyranny would actually be the only RPG option I would have to work on (and any other Obsidian-sponsored RPGs they chose to exclude from the de-ownering agreement), so rather than being an olive branch, it was more, “here’s how we own you twice, still get you to write as always, but at a fraction of the cost.”
  11. You keep writing about "slave mentality". Avellone was in upper management at Obsidian and, apparently, had a falling out with others in upper management for reasons that we will never know. Obsidian, as an entity, said nothing bad about him when he left. If you think Obsidian started this, you are imagining things. If you think Obsidian is retaliating against Avellone, you are also imagining things. The class struggle you seem to think is happening here is happening only in your head. In the real world, Avellone is venting his feelings of resentment in public. He is mostly hurting his own reputation and he is attempting to hurt his former co-workers. There is the part they forced an nda on his neck that everyone keep forgetting may be true or not
  12. And i suggest you read the first declaration again so you can see it why is posting this stuff only now.
  13. From the codex thread a fresh answer to a question to Chris Chris, were you fired from Obsidian? No – after raising some questions about company finances and other issues, Feargus de-ownered me (which I didn’t have a choice in) and then told, “but don’t worry, we’ll still allow you to work on Tyranny for us,” and my response was, “that’s okay, you can work on it by yourself.” Before this seems unusual, de-ownering was actually a common threat tossed around, so it wasn’t specific to me – if any owner raised objections to events going on, the response was often, “you don’t sound like you want to be an owner anymore” and never addressed the actual issues being brought up. Not surprisingly, this shift in being de-ownered coincided with taking place shortly before the first royalty payments from Eternity came in, which meant that the surviving owners got a much larger share with me de-ownered (I don’t mind that, as I didn’t want royalty payments from Eternity, but I don’t think the other owners deserved royalties, either, except maybe a set amount for Darren for the Backer portal work he put in – the team deserved all of it). It was a good business decision, but not good ethics.
  14. It's basically 4chan but somehow even more racist and utterly convinced that the ability to play video games that are really old makes them an instant expert on any subject from literary theory to geopolitics. Oh hello! Well like i said.. when a place have no politically correct content expect people that spill poison on it :D
  15. Yes i agree this situation was not normal to start with makes me wonder what is actually going on.
  16. Well people are bound to change their mind over time.. Like you said Chris is not usually the kind of person thar drop bombs like that if he did something really rotten must have been happened. Now on Obsidian side we have to take in account that maybe this situation could have go out of hand.. But according to the declaration even Paradox is not really pleased so i expect something more juicy to come out soon. And if happens something bad indeed happened. As i told just wait for it
  17. Well is still busy working... So eventually developers love his work.
  18. People that cooperated with Avellone in past always had praise on his work and on his Ethic this has be taken in account.
  19. Yes he went to us revealing this thing just recently you can check the codex thread for confirmation.
  20. Of course it is all an evil plan by Codex part... You will be assimilated... Of course it was Sarcasm
  21. Most people here are being as objective as they can be with this situation. Meanwhile you are treating Chris' words like they are facts throughout this thread. This is not a healthy way to have a discussion. No as i said twice.. Chris in past never gave me reasons to doubt about him.. Unlike obsidian. So yes i am inclined more to believe in Chris and beside there is more about this to be discussed that have yet to pop up just give it time.
  22. What Chris did is just telling he had problems with the upper management problems that apparentely brought many problems to MCA and his life that again was not a mistery in past but just now it started to be more specific about it explaining also why. Seems to me that people are failing to see the point here at the point that are ready to blame it because he talked about this situation in public. So it works right that? A company has the right to be unhetical and do terrible things about you and you must stay silent otherwise you are the bad guy? Again slave mentality. Only the time will tell how this will end but i am sure something more will pop up soon enough and there will be more info to chew on. And i laugh to who assume the codex spread this just because deadfire is about to release. Again some Codexer baked pillars of eternity and have no interest to see the franchise sink.
  23. RPG Codex did spread the article and is normal since is the RPG Codex that got that Chris Avellone Interview.. Of course is spreading it for knowledge many of you forget Codexers actually baked Pillars of Eternity and there is not interest on see the franchise sink. I can understand how somebody could dislike the Codex after all unlike many sites out there Codex is not politically correct and there is no censorship there that could lead to many dislike well such is life.
  24. I told you this was bound to get more interesting
