  1. Even if the term is only a word, as you say, Lucas still made that word. True or false? EU is approved by Lucas' people mainly so that it does not improperly use any of his material and so that it remains as consistent as possible with his so-called "vision." EU predates the prequels, and current EU material tries to follow the prequels as closely as possible, yes. But Lucas's planning for the prequels predates the EU. Obvious from both the numbering of the initial movies and from his original statement in the 80s that he had envisioned nine movies. I would submit that there is no way for either of us to know what Lucas planned for the term "Sith" when he wrote the characters and story for Star Wars ANH. Maybe to him it really was just a cool sounding word. Maybe he had a plan in mind. We're not likely to know either way. But the simple truth of the matter is, while EU may have significantly developed their vision of the Sith, Lucas still made the Sith, in addition to making the Galactic Empire. He simply developed one more than the other. Anything beyond that is mere speculation. Strictly Speaking
  2. That's an odd comment since Darth Vader was Dark Lord of the Sith long before EU was spawned. Of course, EU developed the non-canon Sith, following, as much as possible what has subsequently been shown in the new movies. And admittedly, they have developed their non canon Sith far more than Lucas has developed his Sith. But Lucas did create the Sith, even if it was only a cool sounding name or a barely fleshed out concept. Before EU was even a twinkle in their daddy's eye. Strictly Speaking
  3. Man. A lot of flak flying around here. Need an armored vest just to state a bloody opinion...*pulls on flak vest* Okay. This is still a videogame. And without some alien technology introduced to perfectly model the behavior of human beings, we aren't going to have any game that shows a character that acts like a real person. They'll just act like characters with dialogue written for them by some guy in front of a computer. If you can get past that limitation, then you can enjoy what is written for what it is worth. or...not, if it's written poorly. If a person feels the romances in KotOR were poorly written, and would not like to see more poorly written romances, that's fine. Personally, I'd rather not see poorly written anything. If the writing sucks, the rest of it won't be enough to hold my interest, romance or no. If you're holding out hope that you will have a romance in a game with a realistic character, that is not logical. If that is discouraging you from the game, worry about something that you can actually change. If you're holding out hopes for well written characters, I'm right there with you. Of course, I may be biased because, for the most part, I thought KotOR's characters were written well. And I have no reason to think that the sequel's characters won't be written well. As to the inclusion of romance options: I have no reason to think, as of yet that this is being ignored. Game romances are amusing, and can be an entertaining facet of CRPGs. I don't feel they're so intrinsic to Star Wars that the game couldn't stand without romances, but at the same time, as the player, you always have the option to love or not to love. So why not include them? I never pursued a romance with Aerie, but that didn't affect my enjoyment of BG. Same with Viconia. But I know people who did. And who enjoyed those options. Why not include the option? Strictly Speaking
  4. I must admit, using a new main character is a sticking point for me. I can see why they did it, but it still sticks. I'm also not terribly enthusiastic about five years later the jedi are all but wiped out. I spent a lot of time killing a lot of bloody Sith in the first game! Is there some sort of Sith factory? Are they rolling out on an assembly line? It might have been nice to see a different type of bad guy since we're going with different good guys. But, this is, of course very preliminary, since I don't know much more about the story beyond that. So I can't make any judgements. I don't know if I'd like bigger areas without some sort of vehicle or steed. All that running made me feel like I was RPing a Nike ad. Get to the Dune Sea from Anchorhead? Just Do It. Yeah, I'd love some vehicles...And I'd love some swoop racing that had actual other racers on the course. But I actually like what little I've seen of it and what I've heard from E3. Also, since it's five years down the line, Mission is legal. Got some plans for her if she makes a cameo... Strictly Speaking
