  1. Hi guys,

I'd just like to interject here a minute and bring to everyone's attention a recent article in the official Xbox360 magazine. The article is predicting with some degree of certainty that Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic III will be released late 2006.

There are some scans floating around the net. The links to them are below.

    Here and

    Here

The scans were provided by someone on the game banshee forums recently, if this has already been posted here I do apologise, I had checked but perhaps not thoroughly enough?

Anyway, what do you all make of it? Its quite intriguing however I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

  2. I'm wondering if (assuming they ever make K3) they shouldn't just go with the canonical LS endings for Revan and the exile just to simplify continuation.  I mean, if you go with a new PC in K3, you have 4 different character combinations for Revan and the Exile (8 total!).  It'd be a writer's hell.  I'm thinking maybe they should keep the gender optional but fix the alignment for the two.  It'd piss off a number of fans, but it'd make continuation a lot easier.

That would be some development, and I'm sure lucasArts would be willing to give the developers plenty of time and money to do this ;)"

It would be interesting though, did anyone ever manage to retrieve all the endings on Silent Hill, made the game worth playing plenty of times.

  3. I don't really think there's much scope for another visit to Malachor 5 now anyway, as the Exile either destroyed it or took it over. Its not like they would create a whole game based over one side of the story anyway (the DS path where you keep Malachor), because what would you do LS? ;)

I kind of rambled on there didn't I...

As long as the developers (whoever they be) don't get some silly idea about such an excursion being worthwhile.

I suppose anything could happen really, I mean there is a possibility that the sith academy on Malachor V could yield the PC for the next game. e.g. You start off as a student at the academy and you could quite easily be 'enlightened' or you could carry on embracing the dark side. I know its unlikely but you never know...

  4. It might help to have some small scale battles in K3 (not a war). I will use K2 as a way of looking at this: Kath hounds were transported from Dantooine to Nar Shaddaa. I am not sure why OE did this as there could have potentially been some small-scale battles between the kath hounds and the kinrath, especially given that the kinrath population overgrew their territorial space in their cave.

I found that extremely odd as well, surely not all the Kath hounds that had thrived on Dantooine in the first game, would have been either eradicated or "domesticated"?

One thing that really frustrated me in K2 was the "change/unequip weapons" shortcut within the actions bar. Its a nice idea but at times when there was a heated battle and the framerate started doing its stuff I often found I'd suddenly change from a double bladed-lightsaber to an advanced mining laser :)

So, yeah I would definitely prefer the weapon changing system to revert back to that of K1 for the third game.

(Also, what ever happened to the 'transit back to ship' tool?)

I also never want to visit Malachor V again but I guess thats probably been said a lot around here already = ;)

  5. No! There is a difference between writing a conclusion and leaving the story untold, and this game was unfinished. Need I detail AGAIN the party members -- the NPCs we spent 40+ hours meeting, influnecing and generally trying to empathise with, only to have them ... what?

What exactly happened to all of them?

    That is not a conclusion!

And the big difference with K2 and LotR: Two Towers and even ESB is that in both those films, the third had been written (at least in some detail, for ESB, and completely for fifty years, with LotR), so although there was a cliff-hanger, the subplots were summarised before the end of the film and so we -- the audience -- didn't have to "use our imagination" to work ou what happened to them.

If we're going to "use our imagination", why bother geting the game at all? I can imagaine a whole bunch better than a mere video game can deliver: I can lucid dream about flying, and there is no computer in the world that can give me that sensation.

In other words, your argument is specious.

If you say so, but yours is presumptuous. Due to the fact that you will not hear anyone else's take on matters, you may say you do but how can you claim to know what Tolkien did or did not do whilst writing LOTR, he may have changed it considerably by the time he was nearing the end its speculation and as such we can only assume that KOTOR 3 could quite easily wrap plot holes up in the same way Tolkien MIGHT have. If things don't make sense in Kotor 3 then I will hold my hands up.

For now we just have to take what was said in Kotor II and think on it.

Also why do you play any games at all if you can imagine any better? like you have just stated.

  6. Pearl Jam

    Soundgarden

    Audioslave

    Nirvana

    Alice in Chains

    Bob Dylan

    Louis Armstong

    Hammerfall

    Bad Religion

    Luna Amara

    EMIL

    Sex Pistols

    :luck:

Thar be some pretty good stuff (except Pearl Jam, can't stand them  )

I would also add in The screaming Trees, Flipper, Pixies, Led Zep, Postal Service, Deathcab for Cutie, Placebo, etc etc....

  7. There is an ending its what is known as an open-ending, or more commonly known as a cliffhanger. If there wasn't an ending we'd still be playing it now....

Just because the game finishes, does not an ending make.

You are confusing a stopping of further progress with a written and directed conclusion to a story (remember a story needs a beginning, a middle and an end!)

Well it wrapped things up in a sense, it might not have resolved too much but why should it? I mean Kreia more or less pushes the Exile's hand towards helping Revan which ever way he/she might choose. creating more sith to aid him or in fact go himself or even keeping out of the way (going into exile). You should use your imagination.

I do agree that it could have been done in a much more professional (and less rushed way) but it doesn't mean that the events haven't transpired and would quite easily work if there were to be a follow on plot. (Consult LOTR:Two towers for a similar ending, with gollum in two minds eg.)

  8. ...

I suggest All of the Broken Sword games, Broken Sword 1 being the best; longest game, best locations and storyline.

    ...

I agree about the Broken Sword ones, but 1 and 2 are quite old. I recommend buying 3 first, and if you find you like the characters, get 1 and 2 and learn the backstory.

I disagree about Broken Sword. I played the demo of 3, and it annoyed me so much I uninstalled it before getting out of the plane.

It was pure tedium. You may find it interesting if you like the Myst series, then again, I think Myst was better than this (but that's like being the best Cricket team in Antartica).

You see, thats why I don't endorse BS3 as the flagship Broken Sword title because it gives the brand a bad image. I sincerely hope your not judging the first two games without playing them sir!

  9. Nay, Runaway is probably the worst adventure game ever!

I suggest All of the Broken Sword games, Broken Sword 1 being the best; longest game, best locations and storyline.

I thought it was funny, although I admit I did borrow it from a friend and might have thought differently if I'd paid money for it. It was quite short, but I enjoyed for once an adventure in a modern setting with no fantasy or magic, plus some humour and romance. It was sweet. :p

    I guess you won't be buying Runaway 2. :D

I agree about the Broken Sword ones, but 1 and 2 are quite old. I recommend buying 3 first, and if you find you like the characters, get 1 and 2 and learn the backstory.

Nah I don't suppose I will, seeing as though I had to import my original copy as the UK publisher kept setting the release date back....now I know why :o

For me BS3 doesn't do the series justice, even if it i in 3-D. Too many box puzzles for my liking :)

BS1 is much more magical and it doesn't matter about the graphics in my eyes, the 2-D cartoon graphics have a certain charm of their own. You wont really lose out if you buy it either, seeing as though you can buy it t the bargain price of

  10. Lol I can't believe some of you people actually 'support' games console manufacturers. If I were you I'd buy the console which has the best kind of games you like.

For me, Sony and Microsoft were both spawned from the same hole in the ground, however this is irrelevant.

  11. That somehow reminds me of that old SNES game made by Blizzard entertainment/Interplay. Oh, the good ol' days, shooting orcs with shotguns and throwing grenades at doors. Sigh. :-

And it sure does suck to be Atari right now. No joke.

I think the name Atari in a way defines complete failure or like being 'Munsoned' - "To have the whole world in the palm of your hand and then lose everything" (from the film Kingpin), i.e Atari'd =]

  12. Anyone seen Batman Begins? Went to see it yesterday thought it was absolutely immense, the direction style of Christopher Nolan is a thing of beauty. He's overhauled almost everything that had become stale in the Tim Burton films, much grittier, more intense and much darker. The scarecrow is actually quite scary :p

The cast in this film is of some pedigree, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Cane, Liam Neeson and the talented Christian Bale give good performances. I was expecting this to be ok but it far exceeded my expectations and is much better than the first Batman which was my previous favourite.

    Go see it! :(

  13. No it's not possible to get a lightsaber that early let alone two of them.

She's only got one lightsabre -- the red flashes are blaster fire -- (but two hands); but there is a Sith Soldier (none that I remember in K2), and that area isn't familiar, either.

Well I thought it was but I could be wrong, the other character looks suspiciously like Mandalore and the area is the mines on the peragus facility, isn't it?

Edit: Or it could even be the Main character in some kinda total body armour who knows.

I'm pretty certain there are 2 lightsabers in this shot as the game developers always seem to assume that all Jedi are right-handed. Try playing the game and sticking a lightsaber in the characters left hand only, not possible is it?
