I have had the same thing start happening after the last update on Steam. I tend to create a lot of save points as I play and noticed it was getting progressively slower to get to the point the menu shows the actual buttons I can press when I was starting up POE. I wound up deleting a bunch of older saves and that did speed things up. Makes me wonder if it's some of the fixes the devs implemented to "correct" saved games that is slowing down going through the saves every time the game loads up. If so I'd recommend a minor change to flag "corrected" games so they are not checked every time if they haven't changed since the last scan. Otherwise this problem will increase as people get more save points on their systems.
