  1. So I guess it's OK, you just have to hope your motherboard doesn't die.

If your motherboard dies and you replace it with the same model or very close to it, that's also fine - I've done this. You have to call Microsoft's activation phone line.

  2. I just finished Risen. Very good game, though got a bit too combat-heavy towards the end, but I managed to get through it once I'd made and drunk all those strength potions. :)

It implies a sequel, too. :(

Not sure about replaying immediately, though. I suspect the first part would be very different, but later parts maybe not so much. I might leave it a while.

  3. I have been going through Oblivion. I have so far completed the Arena, The Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves' Guild, the Fighters' Guild, the Mages' Guild, and now doing the Knights of the Nine. After that, only the Shivering Isles and the Main Quest remains.

All with the same character? -_-

I'm still playing Risen: slash thump trundle trundle slash slash oops reload slash slash squelch

  4. I don't suppose we could raise cash by putting all parties on the game?

That's for the market to show, but how much would you pay for George Osborne?

The Conservatives, after initially opposing the idea when Blair introduced it, are planning to increase the number of directly-elected city mayors, along the lines of Boris Johnson. No doubt their enthusiasm will wane when non-Tory candidates get elected, but ho hum. There's an election in Bedford today, I believe, with a close race between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. -_-

  5. He really ought to decline it. I hope that one day he does something to deserve this prize, and am still reasonably optimistic that he might, but he certainly hasn't done so yet.

It's rather embarassing actually - the prize only serves to highlight how little he's achieved compared with some of the other nominees and past recipients.

  6. I agree with this. There is no such thing as 'rape-lite'.

Others might not put it so crudely, but plenty of people are willing to excuse a sex attacker because what he did wasn't "really" rape.

According to this line of thinking, it doesn't count if any of the following circumstances apply: the victim knew her attacker, had been drinking or taking drugs, was wearing nice clothes or agreed to go into a house or flat with him. Thanks to Goldberg, we now need a new vocabulary to deal with such cases; they're not "rape-rape" so we might decide instead to call them something less pejorative, such as "rape-lite". According to Goldberg, Polanski didn't want to spend time in prison for this minor infraction, so of course he jumped bail.

  7. SimCity with updated graphics

The demo was very pretty. :)

and an MMO aspect to it.

Yeah, didn't really understand how this would work or why it was included, but I suppose some people enjoy such things. Apparently there is a firm 'single player' option, so no biggie.

Also the other transportation modules (busses, trains, subways etc) will be patched in.

Patched, or purchased? Because I started reading about monthly payments in order to have a train network, and that's just not happening. To be honest, I don't understand what they're proposing in this area, but it's very off-putting.
