  1. Yeah, if anyone spots actual spelling errors on the site, we would like to know.

metadigital, thanks for posting that. Being a pretend-celebrity still excites the heck out of me.

Soooooo, after finals, yes, things should pick up again. I'm personally also in the middle of graduation and finding a Real Life Job (ha!) and moving, so it might take longer for me to get back to work (not that I've been doing much lately, obviously).

Anyway, thanks for the continued support and cheerleading in general, and sorry again that we can't toss out any kind of solid deadline.

    When are the finals over?

  2. Yes it's quite pathetic..... this whole mess is ridiculous!! Both LA and Obsidian are very amateurish in the way that they are handling this situation! First the first patch gets delayed for an eternity and now the second patch is also delayed! And in both cases there has been no official statements regarding why there are these delays!

I'm actually anxious to see how Obsidian will handle NWN 2, cause then we will see if it really is LA who's to blame for the mess that is KotOR II! But if it turns out that NWN 2 has the same mistakes that KotOR II has, like an ENDLESS list of bugs and an absolutely terrible ending, then I hope to God that they crash and burn as a company right down to THE PITS OF HELL!!

  3. This is what was sent to Gamespot as the official comment from LucasArts and Obsidian:

"We've heard from some people that they feel there was another ending

that was not realized in the shipping version of the Star Wars Knights

of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. The truth of the matter is that

much like a movie a certain amount of the game ends up on the cutting

room floor. This is often because the original ideas or design just

don't make sense when put in the context of the final game as it is

    being put together.

When it comes to KOTOR II, there was material cut at various times in

the game's making, including at the end of the game's development cycle.

We don't feel that the amount of material was much more or less than we

have had to cut from any of the other games that any of us have worked

    on.

Ultimately, both Mike and I are proud of the game and of the talented

people at Obsidian who made it with the assistance of LucasArts.

    Sincerely,

Feargus Urquhart, Obsidian CEO & President

    Mike Gallo, LucasArts Producer"

Arghh, that pisses me of..... what... do Obsidian really think we're idiots?!? TO OBSIDIAN: The ending in KotorII was so disappointing that it made my stomach twist and turn, and when I realised that the game actually was over..... I fainted out of sheer disbelieve! That ending SUCKED, you get it, it was TERRIBLE! And don't think that if YOU say you think the game was great and the ending was wonderful and jadajadajada, that we will be convinced of the same... at least I won't!!!

  4. In the swkotor2.ini file, this is how it looks under Game Options:

So is this correct or not and is there a tool where you can specify which key the console is attached to? And is there anyone who happens to know where the console-key is on danish keyboards?

  5. What should I do to make the console appear? And I know it's invisible, but I've tried to write EnableCheat=1 under GameOptions in the swkotor2.ini , but it doesn't seem to work, cause when I press the ~ in the game and start punching the letters it just shortcuts to all those freaking menus! Am I doing something wrong and how do I know which key the console is attached to? It's just pretty annoying if I can't even use some of my mods because of this!

  6. Soon = About 2 months I think....... how long did it take exactly?

A day or two = At least a week

I understand that about the whole 'soon' thing, it was LA who for some reason blocked the release of the first patch, but now this?! Obsidian said it was finished and the only thing left is to make it so we can download it.... at least that's what I've understood about it. Why do they continue to announce when they think it will be out, when in fact they don't really have a clue about when it's done?! I mean, do they think that it's better to announce a patch and have it take a long time to release it.... and on top of that, not tell us WHY it has taking so long! My view on this is that they shouldn't give an ETA, cause they can't stick to it! Just say 'A patch is on its way' or something like that, just don't mention an ETA!

  7. LOL. What do you expect? Even if there is gonna be no patch release, they would never tell this in the open. Hell would freeze. Thousands of people going crazy etc. :D I guess their method is to wait a few additional month, until no one's left who cares. Partially their method already has been successful. Few have the patience to wait this long - it's still about a patch for a pc-game...

You're right.... I'm beginning to lose interest in playing the game again, so their plan is working. But I will certainly not forget the way this has been handled, both from Obsidian and LA!

  8. We are going to get a patch released and are working to do so.  I apologize for the time it has taken to be released and wish it was more within my control to get it released as quickly as possible.

Thank you for the reply, and the apology. I'm sure that when you originally said that the patch would be coming soon, you didn't imagine that it would take this long.

Contrast this with the approach from LucasArts, who are probably NOT trying very hard to get the patch out, and certainly haven't bothered to communicate with the public about it. I appreciate Obsidian's willingness to come to these boards and post, even about something they're taking a lot of flak for and don't have full control over.

All they have said is that the patch will be out soon and now this. The devs haven't said anything other than that!

  9. Why I think this whole situation is totally unacceptable:

1: There's absolutely no info on the patch... what will it fix? Why is it taking so long(official statements, not unconfirmed rumours)? Have they(LA and Obsidian) even considered making a content patch?

2: There's absolutely no feedback from the devs or LA... I feel like they don't even care, they don't see any problems with the game, they've got their money and now they don't give a rats ass about all the unsatisfied gamers out there!

3: This is a sequel to a GOTY!!!! How can LA prioritize KotOR 2 so low and give OE one freakin' year to develope a sequel to a game which so many people enjoyed and will remember as one of their all-time best gaming experience?!? And afterwards act like all of us who aren't satisfied with such a rushed product don't even exist! And devs saying we are a minority... wtf were they thinking saying that!! And didn't they knew that they were going to get a bad reputation because of this?

Well I for one, and I've noticed that many feel this way, won't buy NWN2 based solely on reviews, as you clearly can't trust them(Why hasn't any reviewers mentioned the obviously rushed last fifth of the game?!) !! I will wait and see the reactions from the forum community before I go buy OEs next product!

  10. People calm down!

i've been watching this forum for a while now and i am sick of all the new threads opened up about this damn patch!

there may be many problems with Kotor 2: TSL, but there is one MAJOR problem, Lucasarts, like we have been told they have the patch now and are 'testing' it to make sure that it comes to scratch, personally i think that should have been done before the game was released because i have had enough of it, i cant play for more than 30 minutes without some bug getting in the way of gameplay, therefore i have removed it from my system untill we get a patch,

but back on track, Obsidian arent in control of the patch now, Lucasarts are putting it through that 'quality control' phase, i dont think they have one, the way things have been coming from them for a while now.

i understand if people get annoyed that we are having to wait so damn long for this, but just think, IT MIGHT BE WORTH IT!

so just sit down, take a breath, and then go pester Lucasarts to get their finger out and just release the damn thing, cause im sure that somewhere along the line someone from obsidian has told us that it was done, and worked and all that, so lucasarts are just holding it back to p**s us off

remember that it will be here when they see fit to release it, and to be honest i dont think that is any time soon,

If you don't like these threads, then don't post in them!

And I think that most of the people in this forum are aware of the fact that it is LA who's to blame.... so we are not complaining solely about Obsidian, but more about the whole situation, which I think is our right to do so!

I check the main page 1 time every day and it's getting to the point where I think it's totally ridicules and unprofessional.... mostly on the part of LA, but I'm also puzzled about why Obsidian put the 'soon' sign up if they weren't 100% sure that the patch would actually be released soon after they announced it! And then people can say 'Hey, they didn't know that LA would stall the release of the patch for so long'..... well, then that's exactly why they shouldn't have put the 'soon' sign up!! Cause if they in reality didn't have a clue about when the patch would be released, then they should've either said within the next couple of months or simply not have announced it!!

  11. As for Master Dahvernas's comments, I have to fully agree.

If the writer has a problem with it, then there is something wrong with it. KOTOR I's story was very supperior than KOTOR II. I have been saying it since day one, and I am saying it again.

Master Dahvernas has another good point: It is a subjective subject...

I don't know if people like the game because it's called: Knights of the Old Republic: the Sith Lords by Star Wars, or because they like the lightsaber action. However, the storyline is very horrible in nature. If you think about it, Bioware did have more time, and created a great RPG. If Obsidian spent a little more time, maybe the storyline would have been edited ot scripted correctly.

Either way, Lucas Arts and Obsidian are to blame.

    -----------------------------------

    As for Hade_One's comments!

Hey man, I have an opinion and you do. I respect your opinion enough to not call you "Clueless". If you don't like what I am saying, and you can't put it in an uninsulting manner, then I am sorry to hear that.

I spent $50 on a game, which has a reputation based upon a first generation. If I and other people feel like we got ripped-off, then we have the right to protest in a peaceful, but expressive manner. I really do think there has to be action taken against software companies, for they release damaged versions of thier software, and we the customer loose money. Since they admitted they have a problem, we the customer should have the right to a refund, and/or a timely made patch.

Finally, when you make a a statement that says "Soon", it doesn't mean latter. it usually means in a few moments, or within a timely manner. More than a week is not soon. More than a week means at some point in time, but now right now.

As a customer... I am one of the mad!

Wow..... I agree 100% in everything you said :o

I mean when the writer himself says that he's surprised that the game has been the succes that it has been, then it's quite obvious that they knew the game was faulty! I just hope that LA gives Obsidian permission to do a patch with content, and then they release it for free..... if they(LA & Obsidian) have a conscience or if they want a decent reputation!

  12. It's becoming very frustating that the patch isn't being released...... maybe they are trying to piss us off!

Why did Obsidian put the 'soon' sign up if they didn't know for sure that the patch would actually be released soon after they announced it?!

Why is there so little or rather non at all, info on the patch, why aren't they telling us what they are gonna fix?!

  13. Nope, but I have a theory.

They purposely wanted KotOR 2 to be bad.  They got a start up company to do the sequel and gave them only a year to do it.  They rushed the game and not give it a proper QA in order to sabotage the game.  Why you ask, because they knew that KotOR 3 will be developed in house for the next X-Box only.  This way they can ditch the PC audience due to the horridness of the bugs in KotOR 2 and look like Saviors to the X-Boxers when a bug free-though ineptly written KotOR 3 is released.

Wow.... you really don't like LA, do you? But at least you have a theory.... I'm left utterly clueless as to the reason for this farce! But you've got a point about the one-year only..... why did LA give Obsidian only one year to do KotOR II.... I really don't get it, other than for some quick money!

I wish that either Obsidian or LA would give a statement as to why the patch is being delayed!
