Obsidian can make KotOR 3 since nothing is canon anymore

Recommended Posts

Because of it have been declared that only Star Wars film, drama, Clone Wars series and all future Star Wars are canon, so Obsidian can make KotOR 3 as what Obsidian want isn't it?

i quote here

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/lucasfilm-confirms-all-future-star-wars-content-to-be-canon-including-the-games/1100-6419225/

"The recent delay of the latest expansion for another EA title, Star Wars: The Old Republic, is unrelated to today's announcement. The Lucasfilm rep told GameSpot, "[A]s far as The Old Republic MMO is concerned, nothing is going to change. [TOR] has always been a part of the Expanded Universe, and that's not going to change."

It means TOR is not canon. Anyone can freely making KotOR 3 now and it will be a canon. When KotOR 3 is canon, it makes KotOR 1 and 2 canon as well because of continuity, which means we can erase TOR from history

Good thing is Revan and The Exile will remain ambiguous, everything will be determined and officially canonized in KotOR 3. No one can claim Revan/The Exile is male/female, lightside/darkside, dead/alive, because TOR and Revan novel never happen.

How I read it was that TOR actually IS still counted as canon. Dunno, to me it's not canon no matter what they say.

In any case, Obsidian would still need Disney's / Lucasarts' permission and them to greenlight the project before they could do it.

English is not my language, but the way i understand it is everything that is EU from the past are non-canon, but future EU are canon. By "future" means "after Star Wars episode 7" released. It is because Star Wars episode 7 have it's own story and not related to EU. Disney/Lucas Art just clean up everything and so they can focus on thier own Star Wars universe. It is a good thing actually, but not without some complication.

In regard of KotOR, well TOR is not KotOR, like i have mentioned in other thread these two are under different title. TOR cannot be KotOR canon. KotOR 3 if done now can be KotOR 1 and 2 also Star Wars canon.

All Obsidian must do is like you said, get the permission and contract. KotOR 2 is still Obsidian game, Bioware cannot making noise about it, although it is based on their work, it is a different product and is Lucas Art brand. Disney just want to make money, and is not related with TOR developement as i know, so it is easy for them

What are you waiting for Obsidian? Save Revan and Exile :)

as Apatia said,Obsidian would need authorization from Disney, and that's not going to happen, since they have agreed that EA will do the next SW 'Hardcore' games and Disney the Casual and movie stuff,so that's not going to happen,as i told in the other thread, they're just too lazy to change that and they won't care since they don't see a profit going back to a franchise that concluded not so well.they'll just continue with Cod,Assassin's Creed,EA sports,Need for speed and all that jazz because it's all the gamer audience is now about,in my country,it's hard to find a title that isn't one i mentioned above, and i get pissed since they think of all the gamer as buying only that s*it.ULTRA MEGA EDITION WITH USELESS CONTENT AND PREMIUM CUT MISSIONS;buy now at the low price of 200 $

even though doesn't mean that i don't want TOR to be uncanon, nothing else would make me happy(as a gamer)to see that abomination to be declared non-canon,though the revan book would still interfere,it should have been done something 10 years ago, when Kotor 2 was still in development.

I would love a KOTOR 3, but even if they did want to make it, they'd probably give it to bioware because they're more known. Speaking for myself, I'd rather Obsidion does it, why? Even unfinished, The Sith Lords it's one of my all time favs.

Also, as a modder, I know that most of the unfinished content is still in the game files, with mods like the TSL Restoration Project; KOTOR 2 just blows away its predecessor.

Keeping in mind that Disney is keeping a tight grip on SW games an media, the only hope of Kotor 3 in the near future is mods.

There are actually two, "Revenge of Revan" and "The Jedi Masters" (Revenge of Revan is better in my opinion but unfinished)

But I soooo want that Revan book to be thrown out the canonical window. I mean, come on, the Exile being stabbed in the back? Revan's role in TOR only being a glorified boss? Bad move on Lucas Arts part.

Revan book must be uncanon, because if they really want to make all EU non-canon, Revan book must be included. Now they cannot say TOR is canon because they themselves declare everything other than the SW movies, Clone Wars series and future projects are non-canon. It also means KoTOR 1 and 2 are non-canon.

But like i said above, KotOR 3 if being made now will become canon, and making KotOR 1 and 2 a canon because of continuity

Yes, i prefer Obsidian make it, i have lost faith with Bioware, i am boycotting Bioware right now. Maybe the original game was made by Bioware but the whole thing is not belong to them, so anyone actually can make KotOR 3 now

True, but the Kotor franchise is also in the un-canon void and one would have to make a game, (Like as you said, Kotor 3) a movie, or a book. TOR is more likely to be legitimized, (Much to my displeasure) then kotor at the moment because simply, it's newer.

I haven't gone as far as to boycott bioware, but I am really disappointed with the majority of the storyline in TOR, and am not playing it. But I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'm sure that the majority of fans agree Star Wars needs better games then the TOR we've had shoved down our throats.

KotOR 3 must come out at once! (Well, as soon as Obsidian and/or whomever else is designing/making it)

I am really looking forward to its release. KotOR was amazing and KotOR II was even better.

The gameplay is fine. Graphics could be better, but what can you do? It's an open-world rpg. Graphics won't be vivid, but whatever Obsidian puts forth will certainly be alright with me.

I would really like the addition of more force powers, because, hey, what's wrong with the Force, right? Your character should be able to fully harness the power of the Force in the next game. That being said, the level cap should be infinite, although the story probably can't be...

We should be able to anywhere in the galaxy we want! (Within reason, of course) AND we should be able to have the entire crew(party) go with you on quests/missions. That would be badass!!

I really liked the idea of Prestige classes. They added a whole 'nother dimension to the game, further making it enjoyable to play.

But, as for Star Wars The Old Republic, I thought it was a bit of a let down because of the paid subscription, but I guess they have to make money, right?

You should be able to train Jedi/Sith yourself and become the most powerful Jedi/Sith in the galaxy.

It would be quite a stretch to say you could have your own personal Death Star.

Anyway, back to the main topic at hand. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT just make the game for the Xbox One, make it for Xbox 360 as well.

Interactions in the world/atmosphere of play should ideally be limitless to the point where you can open ANY door, locker, footlocker, etc. AND to the point where you can do whatever the f*ck you want. Terrorize every planet or bring peace to every planet.

All of these ideas being said, Obsidian, PLEASE MAKE 'DIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am sorry to ruin your fun,but EA has already the license to develop SW games for 10 years by Disney(i know, they're idiots)

i heard about a Kotor 3 project being shut down because Disney caught them.
