All voice acting suddenly very low volume

I am not sure how, but my voice acting is suddenly only a whisper in the background. No restart or fiddling with the menu fixes it. Any suggestions?

I had win 10 do an update and change my sound output to 5.1 , changing it back to stereo got rid of the muffled voices

I was playing when it happened. But I will check the updates.

Which settings were changed exactly? I am still stuck with voice over that sounds like someone is whispering into a coffee pot.

Mine was fixed by changing the main windows sound Playback options for my headphones.  I have an audigy and changed the 5.1 settings there, but no doubt windows settings will do the same
