I'm interested in trying out a play through where I also choose a class that most fits my personality, and it comes down to these 2 choices.

 

I want to create a melee 2H sword character that focuses on DD in 1v1 engagements, and I don't mind crippling or backstabbing opponents.

 

So I'm wondering which provides a better damage output? a single-class Devoted or Devoted multi-classed with Rogue?

 

I thought about having an Assassin subclass but I figured the assassin subclass works better with dual weapons or multi classing with something else, no subclass seems to offer me more freedom in play-style.

Devoted + assassin will do the most single target damage (assassin is actually better with 2h than dw, or at least it was in beta). Street fighter will do the most group damage by a ton.

 

Disciplined strikes is quite good, and fighter stances make it so you can be a boss 1v1 or against groups. Also, it will massively improve your durability.

If you choose devoted just be aware of what weapon you choose and know that some weapons type are overwhelming represented in the unique items present.
