Is there another way to change party members out besides at a tavern?

I'm on the island you do in the beta, but the only tavern like character doesn't have the option to change out.

I haven't seen a way to do it on the boat. If there is can someone please tell me how to do it.

I don't want to have to waist 3 days of rations to get back to a major city.

While in your boat on the world map, there's an edit button in the lower-left of the screen, just to the right of the portraits for your active party
