So I've been playing the game on the Xbox One for some time and that's good and all, but I much prefer the ol' mouse and keyboard for this kind of game. Unfortunately, my computer's a bit dated.
But I was curious, so I checked out both the minimum system requirements and recommended system specs. Even had a couple utilities automatically scan my hardware for me and tell me if I met one or both. According to everything, I definitely meet the minimum system requirements and I nearly meet the recommended specs, the only thing missing is my graphics card is a little bit out of date.
Still, I figured I could just turn everything way way way down if I had to and it would at least be playable, so I bought the Deadfire Edition from Steam.
Well... it does run. But only barely. With the graphics set to the lowest possible setting, the FPS limited to 30, etc. Nothing else running in the background, no mods, just the game... in character creation, which is not terribly graphically intensive, I max out at about 12FPS and I can hear my computer's fan working so hard I'm afraid it'll attain liftoff.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve things or... is it time to start looking at a new computer really?
It just seems odd that I could check all the boxes for recommended system specs except one (and even then get pretty close) and then experience something like this. I mean if this is just how the game runs on a machine like mine... then I shouldn't have even met the minimum requirements.
