White March 2: Ready the cannons: Cannot interact with parts of the artilery lift

I am trying to complete the task: Ready the cannons.
I've got the parts needed: the lever, cog etc but whenever I click on the various parts of the broken lift, there is no interaction.
I checked the output log and this is a line i see:
