Can't actually fight Harpy Monks

I have been playing story mode and have encountered Harpy Monks for the first time. Each time I go up against them, I do wisdom checks for both characters, which I have failed at. Then I have to fight, so I play a blessing and my dice disappear completely, forcing me to quit. They disappear when I have tried other cards too. Even moving a card around in my hand causes it. This has happened all three times I have tried this particular adventure.
