Animal Trick not working against Azaven's Combat Check

Is permadeath on? No. 

Tutorial, Story Mode, or Quest Mode? (If not quest mode, did you recently enter it?) Story Mode.  

Characters in Party: Amiri, Seoni, Sajan, Lini, Harski, Seelah. 

Location of each character: Can't remember for Amiri and Seelah. Everyone else were in Shimmering Veils of Pride  

Turn Order: As above.  Lini's turn.

Scenario & Scenario Difficulty.  5-4 Thassilonian Sins, Normal. 

What card was encountered when the issue occurred? (Or check, or card just played, etc) Azaven. 

Did the issue occur on the first explore or a subsequent explore?  Probably first, but might've been second via a blessing. 

Did other characters aid the check? No. 

Was the encounter a Horde? (Skeleton Horde, Goblin Raid, Zombie Nest, Zombie Horde, Garrison Location Power w/ multiple characters, Henchmen encounter in Black Fang w/ multiple characters) No. 

 

Lini encountered Azaven and used her True Animal Trick on the Constitution check, but couldn't activate it on the combat check even though she had Saber-Tooth Tiger still in her hand. The button was grayed out.
