[1.1.5] Default skill for check causes confusion

Question

Device: BlueStacks emulator

OS: Android 5.1

PACG build: 1.1.5

 

Pass & Play: OFF

Permadeath: OFF

Mode: Story

Party Members: Seoni, Lem, Harsk, Lini, Valeros

Turn Order: per party

Scenario: 4.4 Under Jorgenfist

Difficulty: Legendary

Wildcards: Darkest Night, Painful Memories

Location: Giant Lair

Trigger: Cancel Check

 

Seoni encountered Zaelsar, who has a Divine 16 OR Combat 21 Check to Defeat. The skill selector defaulted to Divine (I guess because Seoni has a bigger Divine skill die than Combat skill die. But, being a Divine check, her Wand of Enervation didn't apply (it only applies to Combat Checks). So I had to manually switch to Combat and use the WoE.

 

I know that the logic behind the skill selector isn't very smart and has required several fixes recently, but can we please find a way to reduce the number of manual interventions needed, rather then increase them as seems to have happened recently?
