WMP2: Can't get High Abbot's journal

I am in the Halls of Presence in the White March Part 2.  I got into the High Abbot's quarters before meeting him by picking the door lock, and then I picked the chest lock.  At that point, the chest became non-interactive.  I finished clearing the abbey, killing everyone on both levels.  I have completed the puzzle in the Hall of Silence, but I can't progress without the journal, which apparently is in the chest that I can no longer interact with.  My save game can be found at https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmZfY1Nx1HRhgdRnQyiEAonPetgyYg .  

 

Any help is greatly appreciated - I'd hate to leave this expansion unfinished.  Thanks.
