When selecting cards to discard as a result of taking combat damage, the 'forfeit' option ends the game without death even if the current damage would kill the character at the end of the current turn.

Also, I'm not sure if it happens every time, but I was able to skip the damage phase after losing a fight as Ezren by triggering the Thassalonian Dungeon's power (draw a card after playing an Arcane spell.) After drawing my card, it moved on past the damage I was supposed to take.
