Not sure if it is working as designed, but this just happened to me:

 

Was fighting a small group of Guls and my cipher casted Mind Blades. There was an adjacent room but the door was closed. His mind blades does its usually jump across enemies and then flew past the closed door and hit a Gul (which I didn't see due to fog of war) behind the door in that room, which of course aggro-ed them and brought another large group of Guls into the combat.

 

While the unexpected challenge was fun, is this a bug? 

They could probably add a line of sight check to the ability.  Dunno if they will.
