Crash when starting a new game

I have a crash occuring evertime I try to start a new game.

 

Intro movies are fine. Main menu is working. New game dialog is working correctly. First sequence is running (panning up to the window, shows title) and it switches to a kind of loading screen (with a hint) during which the game crashes. I'm not able to start a game at all. It crashes 100%.

 

I installed the game after patch 1.03 was released so I never started the game before patch 1.03.

 

From the log it's trying to allocate 2GB of memory as a string while creating the first savegame. I attached a zip file with 4 similar crashes.

 

This doesn't look like it's a hardware problem, but if you need system specs, let me know.
