An Obsidian dev (May the god Abydon bless them) mentioned on the Steam forums that the missing pre-order items problem was fixed when people restarted Steam. My Hero edition of PoE was bought on Humble Bundle.

 

Alas, after restarting Steam, starting a new game, revalidating files,  re-installing PoE, there is still neither pig nor ring to be seen....

 

 

Please help this weary traveller whose journey's are lonely and dark without his glowing pig companion!

I had the same problem.

Log into your Humble Store account, and at the bottom of your "My Library" page you should have a list of "unredeemed keys". Pillars of Eternity + preorder content should be there even though you already redeemed it. Redeem it again, and now you'll have the preorder DLC next time you log into Steam. 

I assume Humble messed up giving out the preorder bonuses in the first while where the game was available.

Luckily i already found out that there was another set of unredeemed keys waiting for me, which finally gave me the pre-prder items.

During my travels i also found a pork cooking recipe.

 

The pre-order pig was delicious.
