From what I gleaned, that doesn't seem to be possible. Am I mistaken? Ability key shortcuts are generally really useful to accelerate some portions of combat (buffing phase, for instance).

You are mistaken. This functionality is in the beta so I'd be surprised if it wasn't in the full game. All you need to do is mouse over the ability and hit the key you want to bind it to.

 

EDIT: Although there is no buffing phase in Pillars.

Configure browser push notifications
Chrome (Android)
  1. Tap the lock icon next to the address bar.
  2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
  3. Adjust your preference.
Chrome (Desktop)
  1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
  2. Select Site settings.
  3. Find Notifications and adjust your preference.
