Kotor II on an Intel GPU

Hi,

 

Obviously I'm a newbie and your probably thinking this is just another helpless guy with graphics issues. But do help me here.

 

I'm on a Windows 8.1 laptop with Intel HD 3000 graphics and as far as I know I can play the game without problems related to Windows 8, of which there some examples. It's my actual graphics that are causing the problem (I think?) because I'm suffering from the infamous crash-after-character-creation complaint. I've disabled all movies and they're not a problem, I hear a 2 second long snippet of ambient in-game sound and then the game crashes back to desktop. 

 

Is there a fix for this? Do you think that it could actually be my OS causing the problem?
