Game crashes during Pose As Bebe's Boyfriend Quest (PS3)

During the quest "Pose As Bebe's Boyfriend," my game regularly crashes when I approach Monica and initiate the cutscene. Sometimes a few lines of dialogue are uttered before the characters end up staring at each other in silence. I've encountered this problem before when recruiting the goth kids. I reverted to a previous save and the problem went away. This is not the case with this issue. I have tried skipping the cutscene to go directly into battle, but what happens is the screen goes black and I hear the thunder noise, and that's it. At this point I cannot access the XMB and have to manually power off the system. I have tried this on my own system and on a friend's system. Is there a fix for this or do I have to start over again?
