This problem happened with me too, In the same battle.

 

Using Professor Chaos again fixed the game. Considering it happened in the same battle as you maybe it's something to do with the battle itself.

This happened to me also but in the abortion clinic boss fight (Giant Nazi Zombie Fetus)
