There was an update to the game on Steam and now I cannot launch the game. It keeps showing the "Preparing to launch South Park:The Stick of Truth..." I've already tried Verifying the Game Integrity and it still won't work.

New patch has broken my game as well. Infinite loop after double clicking the game executable or in steam as mentionned by 3 other people in other posts as well.

Patch also broke the game for me. Just says preparing to launch GAMENAME and closes and reopens in a loop. To J.Burke, I am running the Steam Beta. Confirmed that once turning Steam Beta off, it fixes the issue and I can run the game.

Maybe a good idea for an Obsidian Dev to update the sticky FAQ when there are known issues and fixes like this one? A one stop place for issues and fixes.

this has happened to me also, an infinite loop saying preparing to launch game, it shows on other computers as the game constantly closing an opening too as my status keeps changing! not happy!

I can confirm removing steam beta has fixed this issue.

Strangely enough, I had opted out the beta a long time ago, but I used the -clearbeta command to launch steam and then it worked.

my game crashes after showing the game devs and then the game crshes right before the start menu im playing this on computer

Disabling Steam beta clients really isn't a "fix" ...it's a stop-gap.  This still needs to be remedied by a patch from Obsidian ASAP so that even the beta clients work fully.  I'm not giving up In-Home Streaming, Family Sharing, Steam Music, etc. etc. across all my machines just to play one game when everything else in my library can handle Steam Beta clients just fine.

Unfortunately, this is a steam issue. We contacted steam to see what they can do to resolve the issue. The claim it's fixed as of a few hours ago.
