sfd cinematics stutter

when i start the game from the 'new game' menu the opening cinematic always stutters badly, eventually resulting in a system lockup. is there a problem with the codecs or a CPU related issue? i have a low-end system [AMD Athlon 3500+ 2.21 Gh, 2 GB RAM, 9400GT 512 Video RAM) and the in-game graphics are not a problem with a little tweaking, but the cinematic movies always stutter. i looked everywhere for an answer to my problem but i haven't found anything. maybe the CPU is slow and can't process the .sdf's in time, or it's a bug.... can someone help me? thanks in advance.
