madarr Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Ok To start off, ill introduce myself as an avid fan of neverwinter nights and the wheel of time series by pen-name robert jordan. I have some comments on the Process of Creating a Wheel of Time Game anything similar to neverwinter nights &/Or D&D Firstly Evil Charcters in NWN Get away with far too much. In The wheel of time Book series A Murderer would never be asked To Complete X Quest because he was the only person around. Bad Guys are bad guys, and if the banker knows your Evil, Why would he still let a darkfriend do buisness? If you Make the Faction a charcter is playing become relevant to the actual gameplay by limiting and or hindering them in some ways will increases the depth felt in the game play. To make sure the game is canon, please do not allow Players to choose an Ogier as thier Avatar. The Book ogier are so pacifistic they are not a playable race. Ensure Aes Sedai are forced to play through the game under the 3 oaths (Will not make weapons for men to harm other men, Will not use the one power except in defense of self, Cannot LIE). A list of Classes available in the books would be something like Aes Sedai, Ashaman (male one power user), Wayfinder (Female one power user who dislikes land), Theif Taker (Bounty hunter), Thief, Wiseone, Spear Sister, Merchant, Warder, Child of the Light, Wilder, Soldier (Would Pick A Spesfic Origin//Army), Mercenary Ect. Don't give out angreal//Ter Angreal like candy in any similar fasion to that junky 1999 game. keep the numbers small, dont have thousands of hp for no reason, it just reminds me of dragon ball z when i was a kid... OVER 9000!! Equipment should not matter to a charcter as much as the order/Selection of thier combat stances/Training/Abilities. Equipment should not Hinder Gameplay Combat should take more then 10 seconds to kill 1 enemie of suffecient size, Closer to Eq grouping then wow soloing. Sieges and Armies were a major part of the book series and should be prominetly figured into the game. Do Not Make this a sterio typical WOW Clone. Clans/Guilds systems if it does become an mmorpg should offer differnt choices, such as merchant guilds, Warbands and so forth each with thier own fuctions and Giving access to differnt sets of quests ect. The steriotypical Guild function is tired. Do not waste time making it a redundant chatroom. and since no one who actually works for obsidian is likely to read this, I am going to call that enough to make the game functional. There is no Ultimate melee weapon. There should be atleast a few 1 per server unique items. Neverwinter Nights 2 kicks ass (except for the stupid silver shards and the Half functional Castle Builder junk) I am Hopeful and Excited that Perhaps Obsidian was the right company to make this Game. (44 million books sold because its good.) I reserve no rights on anything said in this Statement. Administrators can contact me by e-mail if anything said here was unclear.
