astrion Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 (edited) Hi, I'm sorry to bother everyone here, but I'm sad to report that I have been unable to get my game to start. It could have been something simple I did wrong (I'm not that great with computers) or something wrong that is outside of my influence. I read the request for my system info in another post and so I thought I'd post both that, and what I did. I got the game from a friend--- All 4 discs were there-- he told me that he didn't want it because it needed to have some kind of debug downloaded. He surely knew what he was talking about, but to get him to explain it so I could understand was beyond me. I installed it on my computer--- 4 discs, inserting each when prompted and it gave every indication of working until I tried to click on "game". That time, and every time since then it has asked me to send an error message to Microsoft. I tried the update feature, it was no help. and then manually went to the site recommended by the update feature, but either what I needed wasn't there, or I couldn't find it. Here is my system info: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 9/3/2009, 17:20:43 Machine name: ME-4FFE2AF13A7C Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. astrion Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 Additionally, I tried to check the settings by going to "configure" and it allowed me to save this info. Hope it helps. Guest Slinky Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Display Tab 1: The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. Direct3D functionality not available. Vid Card Status=Warning There's the problem, you need to install drivers for your graphics card. Your laptop is Dell D610 with mobility radeon X300 graphics card? If so, you need to install this. Did you update your game to 1.0b? No matter what game, it's always recommended to update to latest version, especially KotOR 2.
astrion Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 Thanks Deathdealer, I installed the drivers that you reccomended, however Nothing has changed with the game. any more suggestions? oh, and also I got version b already--- so that's not the problem
astrion Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 It seems, on that system check--- that there are only two areas that failed (or got warnings) #1.-- Video-- it says "warning, (null). Unable to detect VRAM" and #2.-- Open GL-- Failed. Microsoft Corporation - 1.1.0--- Required: Non-windows generic open GL 1.4.0 drivers. Maybe this will help?
Guest Slinky Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) That's strange. Does dxdiag still say the same thing on Display Tab 1? If it says no problems found, I'm not quite sure what the problem then is. Getting games to work with laptops are sometimes a chore because they are rarely officially supported. You can find people with similar problems at these forums. I'll try to look around. Edit: Okay, looks like the probem is in OpenGL driver. I look around if that is fixable. Guest Slinky Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I find only people with similar problems, but no solutions. Looks like it's basicly a lottery will KotOR 2 work on a laptop. Sorry I couldn't be of more help
