Onderon Crash

When I go to Onderon for the first time as I try to leave the spaceport the game crashes on the loading screen

 

system specs:

 

WinXP SP3

intel core 2 duo 2.33 GHz

2030Mb RAM

Nvidia 8600 GT superclocked 256 MB VRAM

I've had the exact same problem before, it's a bug (I think), try downloading the KotOR II patch at Lucasarts.com. Remember that TSL can be real buggy and glitchy. Another thing is to just load a game at the point when you enter Iziz and keep trying and maybe it wont crash.

Hi, I'm new here, I have a similar problem to the OP, & have come looking for some help.

 

I done Dantooine, Nar Shaddar, the Barren Planet (with the Sith Academy - cannot recall the name), & landed on Dxun. I completed all this & Mandalor took me to Onderon (I had the cut-scene Movie). Then, upon landing, I was presented with the Character Select Screen & the game froze. I left it for 10 minutes, praying it would right itself, to no avail. I had to Ctrl+Alt+Del to close the game. Upon loading back in I was back at the fight with the Sith Infiltrators ... only had about two to kill. Then all were dead & ... nothing. No cut-scene, no Mandalor in the Camp, most of the Mandalorian's are injured (post fight) but the game refuses to progress. Have been running around for hours (6 hours to be exact, so far).

 

I've loaded in an earlier save, but it takes me right back to the camp, with the injured Mandalorians - no more Sith Infiltrators to fight. So, I reloaded a much earlier save (Telos Station)... only to find Atton is already a lvl 26 Jedi Sentinel, Kreia is also lvl 26 & my character is still lvl 11 (the level she was when I made that save). This save is before I was able to go down to the Surface of Telos, yet I still have the Dancing Outfit in my inventory from Nar Shaddar.

 

However, the game cannot progress, as none of the quests in the log can be completed - as the station is in the state it was in when I left Telos Station (even though this is a much earlier save).

 

I have about 7 saves (I like to be cautious) but it seems they are ALL corrupted.

 

This is all due to crashing upon landing at Onderon. I have no desire to restart right back from the beginning, not after it had taken me so long to get to this point. All this time invested & I am on the verge of tearing my hair out. I make several saves to avoid problems like this, yet it seems to have done me no good.

 

I am now stuck in the Mandalorian Camp, on Dxun with no way off (the Ebon Hawk cannot take off - as Atton is fixing her)

 

 

Please, anyone, is there any way I can progress?

Try disabling both soft shadows and frame buffer effects. Equipping a lightsaber may also solve the problem, but is not always an option. You may later also encounter this problem in the Iziz Cantina as well as in the Shyrack Cave.

 

@ Condor:

I usually have about 500 to 800 saves per game, and I advise you to do so as well. Seven saves can't be considered "cautious", especially in a game like TSL. Well, you probably figured that out on your own by now, didn't you.

Are you sure your Telos save is really from that point? Is the Ebon Hawk really not available at the docking bay?

Considering the loadscreen freeze, there is probably some sort of workaraund, like turning off graphic details. The real problem seems to be the infestation of your savegames.

Have you installed any mods?

I never use Mods in any game.

 

The Telos save has my Character at lvl 11, my only two companions are Atton (lvl 26 Jedi Sentinel) & Kreia (lvl 26 Consular) - the Droid T4-M4 is greyed out, as the Ebon Hawk has been stolen. Chodo, the Ithorian (sp) is expecting me to get the Droid Interface from Bay 2 - but the Bay is empty, Bay 1 (where the Hawk lands in later visits) is locked tight. The Security Chief ask me to find his friend, to give evidence on Czerka, the one in Apartment C1 (?) & yet the guy is standing next to him.

 

I also have the Dancing Outfit from Nar Shadarr (sp). I also have several Lightsabers from later in the story.

 

As an act of desperation I created a new character & lo & behold - had access to my 'main' character's Inventory - includiing the Dancing Outfit AND Lightsabers.

 

I didn't pursue the new character though - the thought of redoing everything all from scratch makes me shudder.

 

I just want to continue the character I've been playing the past 64 hours

First, you should download KSE and look if your companions really have the wrong levels in the save or if the game is just overriding their values. If the latter is the case, then reinstalling and patching the game may solve the problem. If the saves are actually corrupted, then it's probably already too late, although I doubt this, since you say a new character has the same problems.
