Cads Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Firstly, I'm running XP. Installed the game, and it crashes to desktop immediately with a send report error. Immediately went into the more obvious trouble-shooting things; updated to catalyst 8.whatever, and the game itself. After some tinkering I found that I could run the game after I had disabled the sound in the game config. This doesn't do me much good, however. So what's confusing me now is that I have an integrated SigmaTel audio chip which is what I actually use as my audio device, and a very old Aureal soundcard that I use merely as a gameport. KOTOR seems to insist on listing the Aureal card as the audio device in it's scan, so I opened my tower and removed it. KOTOR still listed the Aureal device despite it not actually being in my box or listed in device manager, which confused me greatly. Right now I'm going to try putting the card back in to zap the drivers and see if that gets the game to use the other sound card, but I'm not terribly hopeful. I searched this forum looking for someone with the same problem, and I did find this topic: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...c=50105&hl= Since it ended with no solution for the guy, it didn't help me much. Anyway, here's the hardware scan.
