Long Stutter when Saving

Most times when I save, there is a long stutter in the game before it actually reaches the saving screen.

 

Sometimes, saving works fine for a while but for no reason the stutter occurs and doesn't go away.

 

-Both Quicksaves and regular saves do this

-Happens in both KOTOR1 and KOTOR2

-I've tried defragmenting my hard drive

-I run only essential programs and services on my computer

-I've run Ad-Aware, Spyboy S&D and did a virus scan

 

Any ideas? This is ultra annoying.

What are you're specs?

What kind of graphics card are you using?

Games are fully patched.

AMD Sempron 2800+

512 DDR Ram

Radeon 9600 Pro

Windows XP SP2
