This happened to me when I first tried to play K2, when the patch 1.0b was not out yet. Have you downloaded and installed the patch? Just go to www.lucasarts.com and look under KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords. The patch is there. It usually takes a while to install it. My comp is an fair speed processor so took me about 50 minutes to install it.
