Bjorn Wolfblade Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Greetings All, This is my first time posting on these boards but I have been lurking a while now. I know Ati cards have been known to couse issues with kotor2 and I apologise if this has been covered before. But the issue I've been having is rather perplexing, when catalyst driver update 5.5 was released I read that it fixed some stability issues with ati chip sets. So i downloaded and updated the drivers just as I do semi regularly. When this was done I reran the swconfig exe (latest patch installed) it check for any conflicts and such. Only to have it state in blue text that my nvidia detonator drivers were out of date and i need to update my drivers. At witch point I'm takes to the ati page. now heres why its odd , I don't have an nvidia card on my system. So I uninstalled 5.5 and went back to 5.4 and decided to wait for 5.6 and try again. I just installed 5.6 today and I got the same Issue and when I tried to run the game with 5.5/6 installed features like softshadoes and the like witch normally work with 5.4 were disabled. As a result I an now using 5.4 yet again with no issues. I saved the swconfig reports one with 5.6 installed: (see below) [sWKotOR] ReportDateTime=12/06/2005 19:48:39 SysInfoVersion=v1.00.60 GameExists=1 GameVersion=v2.00.420 GameInstallLocation=C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\ [OS] Name=WinXP Version=Windows XP v5.1 build 2600 Service Pack 2 Service Pack=Service Pack 2 Status=Pass [swapFiles] C:\pagefile.sys=768 [CPU] CPUCount=1 CPUSpeed=2000 CPUFamily=15 CPUModel=4 CPUStepping=8 CPUVendor=AMD CPUName=AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ Status=Pass [Memory] RAM=512 Status=Pass [Disk Free Space] C: (FAT32), UNICODE=131.31GB Status=Pass [CD-ROMs] DriveLetters=D:\,E:\ Drives=ATAPI DVD DUAL 4XMax,ATAPI DVD DUAL 4XMax,ATAPI DVD DUAL 4XMax,IDE DVD-ROM 16X,IDE DVD-ROM 16X [Video] Video Card Name=ALL-IN-WONDER 9200 SERIES Video Memory=512 Desktop Resolution=1024x768x32 @ 75Hz DirectX=DirectX (9.0+) (4.09.00.0904) OpenGL Version=1.3.1008 WinXP Release OpenGL Vendor=ATI Technologies Inc. And more to the point any idea why it's happening? My first thought was the open gl driver but from the report its fine. my card was detected corectly yet it also insisted i needed detonator drivers. I'm most perplexed by this Dose any one have ideas or thoughts on this? and I'm loathed to buy a new card as the systems just over a year old. thx in advance
