Ok, sounds dumb, but if you get a blank black screen after a load and you keep hitting it, you are missing a step in the game. I had this issue, I would get on the Ebon Hawk, and try to leave mining station, got to a load screen and it would freeze.. I would get a black screen, hear sounds but no picture. Well, once deleting my game and restarting, I realize I had managed to reach the Hawk before solving many of the tasks because I missed a hatch that had opened. I have no idea how I got to the point of leavig the asteroid before completing some of these critical tasks but I did. So if you get an error, at some point in the game were you get a black screen and keep hitting it, you might have missed a critical quest in the game and reply if you want details. do u have to do the sidequest where you speak to HK 50 and you get the voice inprint quest. Is it optional or do you have to do it?

Ya, I think thats what fixed it. Once I did that, I was ok and the slowdowns are much less now.
