Didn't I read somewhere that the Basilisk War Droids were semisentient, almost like a horse or dog?  And that a Mandalorian rider had to bond with it in order to 'become one' with it, and establish trust between rider and mount?  That would make it rather pet like IMO.  :lol:

 

The appropriate response to that discourse would be:
