9 hours ago9 hr I have been playing and loving grounded 2 especially the new archetype and the improvements to the old. Being an assassin caused me to start thinking of a ninja like archetype which led me down this rabbit hole of an archetype that can handle both medium and short range combat all while dealing two types of damage, that being smashing and slashing. this archetype will be purely based off a weapon known as a kusarigama. This weapon is usually seen as a weighted spiked ball with a chain that attaches to a sickle. The ball being used to cover medium range and the blade being used to deflect (parry) or slash. I was thinking one of two things either the move set attached to these weapons mixes both slashing and smashing attacks naturally, or giving you control of which damage type of you want to prioritize. This will also open the gate to yank or pull attacks by throwing your blade too hook and pull yourself to close the distance. Was thinking this would be more of a charged attack. another thing I believe would be sick to see, is if this new archetype had the ability to do dodge attacks. This I only say because I find myself using parry so often in this game I almost forget about the new dodge mechanic. its not as if its a bad mechanic but parrying seems so much more rewarding. However, if you were able to time a dodge attack in between an enemies move set to punish and potentially get a stun off or a crit I would not stop using it. I know this whole thing raises a lot of questions about balancing and to that I would say to make it nimble but fragile. You have opened the door for punishments those same punishments can be applied to you if you miss your windows.
