Decoration

Hello Obsidian Team,
first of all, thank you for Grounded 2. One of the things I enjoy most is building and decorating my own little home in the backyard.
The building system is already fantastic, but I think there is a huge opportunity to make our bases feel even more cozy, personal and alive.
I would love to see more purely decorative items in future updates — things that don't necessarily provide a gameplay advantage, but give us more ways to turn a functional base into a real home.
🌿 Hanging plants & vegetation
One of my biggest wishes would be hanging plants that could be attached to walls, ceilings, roofs, balconies and other structures.
For example:
Hanging flower pots
Hanging vines
Ivy growing down walls
Small hanging baskets
Moss-covered decorations
Small potted plants
Flower boxes for windows
Plants that grow around railings and pillars
Decorative leaves or branches that can be attached to walls
It would be especially cool if some plants had different growth stages, so that they slowly become more lush over time.
🪴 More small decorations
I'd also love to see lots of small objects that make a room feel lived-in:
Small pots and planters
Vases with flowers
Baskets
Books or little stacks of notes
Jars and bottles
Plates, cups and bowls
Small tools
Decorative rocks
Shells
Feathers
Insect wings
Acorns and other natural objects
Little shelves
Wall-mounted storage/decorations
Picture frames
Signs and little personal decorations
The backyard already contains so many beautiful natural objects. It would be amazing if we could use more of them to decorate our homes.
🕯️ Lighting
More decorative lighting would make a huge difference:
Hanging lanterns
Small ceiling lamps
Wall-mounted lamps
Chandeliers
Candle-like lights
String lights
Tiny glowing decorations
It would be especially nice if we could choose between different light intensities and perhaps warm/cool light options.
🪟 Windows & walls
More decorative building options would also help a lot:
More window shapes
Smaller windows
Large windows
Round windows
Decorative shutters
Window boxes
Different railing styles
Half-height railings
Decorative pillars
Wall ornaments
More curved building pieces
I'd also love to see stained-glass windows or colored translucent materials made from insect wings. This could create some beautiful lighting effects inside our bases.
🌸 A small "Decoration" category
Perhaps all of these could be placed into a dedicated Decoration section in the building menu.
The important thing for me is that these items wouldn't necessarily need to have any gameplay purpose.
They would simply allow players to express themselves.
One of the things that makes Grounded special is that we're tiny creatures living in an enormous backyard. Because of that, even something as simple as a flower pot, hanging plant or little lantern can make a base feel incredibly charming.
I'd love to be able to walk into my base after a long expedition and feel like "this is my little home."
