Moon Man skipping dialog at the start menu

Featured Replies

Every time I start the game and get to the main menu, the Moon Man starts to talk but only gets about halfway through the dialog when the audio cuts as if I'd intentionally skipped it.

Playing on PS5 with the latest version of the game.

Dear Obsidian,

I very much like your game, however I believe this Moon Man dialogue glitch is the straw that broke the camel's back to prevent me from ever recommending this game. That may sound petty, but it's because of the cumulative experience of this bug over time.

I very much enjoyed the Moon Man menu the first few times. I laughed out loud, I called my partner into the room to check it out because it was novel. But it broke somewhere maybe 1/4 into the game, and since then it has become something that sometimes mildly annoys me, sometimes I can ignore, but which sometimes genuinely infuriates me. It's the first moment every time I boot the game. Every single time I boot the game it's the first musical strain, the Obsidian logo, and then a broken line of dialogue.

A failed first impression that repeats and repeats and becomes something grating; I have 59 hours worth of this. An indie developer that launched a game with a broken menu would surely fix it quickly with a patch.

I logged onto these forums for the first time ever for the sole purpose of complaining about this as I try to get through the act 4-5 transition of the game.

I kept thinking to myself over the last months "surely Obsidian will fix this," but it persists. Moon Man starts to talk and then the line is skipped.

If you think I am going on about this too long, think about how much time I have spent hearing those lines get messed up. Sometimes, if my save was in the wilderness, it's a large percentage of the total dialogue I hear for 20-30 minutes.

Puh-lease fix it. It's genuinely a shame, and more than a little ironic, that such a fun style attempt was more of a pratfall from Microsoft's Obsidian.
