Food/inhailer meds/healing items dissappearing from inventory

Has happened 5 or 6 times, about 27 hours of game play so far. Everything from the "food and drinks" tab just dissappears from my inventory. Played from early release date. Not death related, died on purpose a few times just to see.

Just trying to bring attention to a possibile bug or patch need.

Yeah this happened to me half way through the tutorial and at first I thought I'd just somehow used them all but it happened again and was rather annoying when I needed to heal up after combat.

No need to apologise!  But thanks for providing.  I'm not a dev or anything, but have spent most of my adult live involved in technical support or troubleshooting of one kind or another, so I know this info is helpful.  If we, the users, can establish any kind of pattern to these things happening, then that might help the devs identify what part of the code/flow is having issues, and get them to a fix faster. : )

So thanks to you and MushRoomQueen -- we now know it's not platform-specific.

If this keeps happening, and if you're able to discern any pattern, please post again!  For example:

o Does it seem to happen coincident to combat?  If so: does your health bar status change at all?  (My first thought is, "is the system is automatically consuming your food and drinks once you come out of combat to bring you to full health, instead of that being an action that you as a player are deciding to trigger?")

o Do you have a sense of "it happens after x minutes/hours", such as, at some point, you think, "it's about time to check to see if my food/drink has disappeared again", because you've started to notice a pattern in time?

o Did it seem to start happening after some point in the game?  If so, do you recall what you were doing around that time -- did you complete a particular quest, for example?

It's interesting that MushRoomQueen reported that this happened halfway through the tutorial.  That's pretty early and an interesting data point, thank you. : )

Random from what I noticed. I haven't studied it as far as everything you brought up. I will say, I do doubt it's being consumed into my health because I need it after battle and it'll be wiped. 

I collect EVERYTHING. I had a whole page of food and it got wiped. So I don't think it was consumed for health because it just wouldn't be possible to consume that much? 

As far as the other points you brought up, I haven't noticed a pattern, I just check since it's more paranoid thing now and check random because I've died so much because of it. I can't heal up after fights and be ready for a new one, so I'm having to head back to town to spend bits on food or healing instead of new gear so it's making the game more difficult for me. I think. I do know I'd rather buy upgraded gear instead of food lol. 

And no, I don't remember when I first noticed. Takes me a while to get familiar with everything in a new game until it's all intuitive and aware of everything, so it could have happened in tutorial like Mushy Girl but I noticed it for sure about 1/4 of the way through roaming Eden/Paradise Island? Not too sure. But once I noticed I have been checking since.

It's not like nothing goes into inventory, if that helps. It will collect and build for a time. It does show in inventory. But once it's gone, it's ALL gone at once. I can eat and heal just fine if I choose to eat it in the world instead of put it in inventory and I can eat/drink/heal just fine using it out of inventory. 

I finally got mad about it last night after I died a bunch over not being able to heal out of a tough battle then stumbled into another one. So I made this post lol. 

I'm not trying to bitch. Mostly just bring it up so devs can take a look and maybe patch.

I pick up everything too, 100% get you on that.  I will keep an eye on this also and report if it starts happening to me (on XBox).  More data == a pattern that might get the devs to the solution quicker. : )

I keep thinking that any data, all data, might be useful, because I keep thinking of Taylor Swope's hilarious thread on Twitter/X about the "Infinite Ladder" glitch in The Outer Worlds.

This is happening to me, too! I have no food or meds in my inventory and I collect literally all of it. Nothing left in there. I just got to golden ridge when I noticed. So frustrating.

I feel you. Hopefully they can get a fix for this. My character also doesn't have eyebrows. She looks goofy but it's a minor thing next to the food issues.

Happened to me today twice during the tutorial as well. I'm playing on Xbox Series S and didn't notice anything particular prior to it

It happened to me again last night. It was right after I got a level up. Idk if that had anything to do with it, I check it so often now- but I had a whole page of food again in my inventory and empty boxes right after I spent perk points.

Same here - all food items gone from inventory. Did not consume them. I bought food and found food. All were gone after checking inventory on the first planet.

This is happening to weapons and armor for me. Missing a ton of gear that I've picked up, including the stuff from Milverstreet and Kaur... which really sucks since they are legendaries.

Hi there,

I've made some tests regarding this problem and i think it's not random. I tried to check my invotory at every moment on the first mission.

The food and meds did not disappear when hit or die but at some points in the mission.

Ffirst it was in the office where you deactivate the vox but i didnt take screens. But at another point when you talk to the guy in the outpost before the bridge.

After talking to him and kill the robots i still got my foods in my inventory

 

Each time i pass the outpost to continue my food and meds disapear

 

and hopefully the autosave was at this moment and if i load back the save they are still here and i've repetead the process multiple times just to be sure it's not just a coincidence.

So i investigate a bit more and the bug is really tricky for me.

I don't know why nor how but the disappearance of the consumables is only when i modify the shortcuts to correspond to my azerty keyboard.

I've reached the support with a clip with all the steps for help.

I don't know for the consoles users but if someone here on pc with an azerty keyboard or even with a qwerty can try to change the shortcut on the move left, move forward, gadget and inhalator like i did (ex : for me A to Q for left movement, W to Z for move forward, Q to A for gadget and Z to W for inhalator) and just tell if he can reproduce.

At this moment we can gladly say we spot the exact edge effect of the bug.

Qwerty was temporay fix consumable disappear again back to the bug ....

Makes sence. I didn't even give it a second thought to what they gave me. 'I'll look later' type attitude. But I never had their gear either after.

Good observations from the keyboard/PC! I'm on console. X Series. I've been back on day shift (real world job type ****) since my last post, so I haven't played/watched it anymore. But once I have a day off I'm going to pay attention to the level up thing. I'll check before I spend perk points then after and report back.

Playing the digital premium edition on PS5 since the early release.

Literally cannot keep any food or drinks in my inventory anymore. That section of the inventory is cleared almost every time I press pause now. Practically anytime I need to heal between fights I find it’s all gone. 
 

PLEASE fix this bug it’s really awful
