Blaaguuu Posted Tuesday at 07:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:05 PM Platform: Steam/PC While doing the quest to get a Red Soldier Ant Egg from the ant hill, to hatch as a pet/mount, if you pick up an Egg, then drop it, the Egg will show a location marker on your UI, so that you can find it again. The egg marker takes priority over all other location markers that would normally show on the UI. However, it is possible to drop the egg in a location where it is impossible to pick it back up - in my case, it fell behind a dirt wall, inside the ant nest, so I can't access it. I was able to go back and get a different egg, and complete the quest - however the game still thinks I need to recover that first egg, which is impossible, and the UI continues to ONLY show that one UI marker. Even after advancing through a couple additional quest steps, where I have hatched the egg, and more, the UI is still locked to recovering an egg. Saving, quitting, restarting, and reloading the save does not resolve the issue, either. This essentially soft-locks my game, since the UI markers for navigating the world are pretty essential to the game experience.
Blaaguuu Posted Tuesday at 09:28 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 09:28 PM To follow up on this, I think the issue is worse than I originally reported. I had the thought to take my mount back to where an egg got stuck behind a wall, and its more "vacuum" style pickup ability was able to grab the egg through the wall. Taking it back to my base and either hatching the second egg or trashing it (I reloaded and tried both) cleared the permanent egg marker on the UI - but since I had already advanced my quest state several more stages, it appears my UI is just totally broken now, and there are zero map markers visible at any time - for the current question, or placing a "ping" with the Peeper mode - nothing shows up. Again, I restarted the game, and no change.
Blaaguuu Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago Never mind - this was user error. I didn't realize that there is a hotkey to hide/show those map markers, and I must have accidentally hit it at some point. I guess my feedback would be that it should be clearly noted somewhere, such as on the map, if you have those toggled on/off, so users understand it is a possibility, without digging through the key config. It occurred to me that something might have been wrong with my settings, but I looked all around the in-game UIs, and didn't see anything - I only thought to check the keybinds after it became obvious something else was up, when I started a new game and didn't have the map markers visible there.
