My partner and I are attempting to play multiplayer but she is receiving this error:

You must log in to an Xbox Network account and have an active internet connection to play Grounded 2 Online

We are in the same room with identical setups. She is connected and logged into her xbox account. Really need a solution to this please!

Same here. I'm on steam. It shows this pop up then shows "logging in" and then nothing happens.

I can also confirm that I logged into my PC Xbox App with my partner's gamertag, launched the game, and could access multiplayer without issue. So it does not appear to be an issue with the game or app but the Xbox account being used.

I am also having same issue.   Tried all usual suspects for fixing, ie restarting game services and redownload with no luck.    Help plz.   Was working fine 2 days ago.   

I bought the game on Steam. It does not know what Xbox account I have because it does not give me the option to log in to my Xbox account.

It seems like it's happening to quite a few people, unfortunately it is not on their issue tracker yet https://grounded2.obsidian.net/issue-tracker  

We've had no luck at all. Tried signing out of Steam, signing out of XBox, uninstalling and reinstalling, nothing is working. If we go back into Grounded the multiplayer is working fine. It would be great to get a solution to this.

PC through Xbox pass

My partner plays on Xbox pass and cant join or host getting the message "connected xbox network account required" then it puts you back to main menu. She is signed into her Xbox account. It was working for awhile at launch then stopped. Now its been stuck in a sign in loop. Only solo is accessible.  I own the game on steam,  I signed into my Xbox account once on her computer and had to download the steam version, after signing back into her account and launching the game through the xbox app it stopped working. I tried deleting the steam version,  gaming service repair tool, updating, verifying, resetting credentials. Nothing so far has seemed to work. Tried signing into grounded 1 recently and there was no problem signing into the xbox network. 

having these SAME EXACT ISSUES tried allll the things uninstall reinstall sign out of steam sign out of xbox i even made sure my xbox account was linked to my steam

Things I have tried:

Uninstalling and reinstalling.
Uninstalling and reinstalling without the extra DLC.
Manually deleting game files.
Verifying the integrity of game files.
Logging out and back in to steam.
Logging out and back in to Xbox app.
Linked my Xbox account to my Steam account.
Using my phone as a hotspot to test IP issues.
Using the Xbox gaming services repair tool.

I checked Grounded 1 and I can sign in and out of my Xbox account without issue too.

The latest patch has not fixed the issue but now shows a pop up when hitting F1/enable crossplay. It did nothing prior. 

still no luck after update.   launching game on pc thru game pass.   user name is in top right corner so defiantly logged in.  room mate has basically exact same set up and sitting on couch next to me and he has no issue.     kind of of frustrating as it was fine a few days ago.  any update or acknowledgment would be nice .

Same issue with the Xbox, can't login on multiplayer. But this happened after the latest update. Today we found out that when my wife signs in on my Xbox she can enter multiplayer tab. So it is account bound or server bound.

OK guys, I found part of a solution.

What I did was to just erase my local save file, after that i restarted my xbox until i saw the login screen (no further action).

I opened the xbox app on our desktop and logged into my own account. Started grounded 2 via steam (because we bought one grounded version through steam) and opened a multi-player session with the cloud save, walked around a tiny bit and saved the instance manually. Exited the game and logged myself out of the xbox app on our desktop. After that i logged into my account on xbox, started the game, got the savefile again from the cloud (because the local one was erased) and tried starting a new multiplayer session which seemed to work. But my wife could not see my active multiplayer game. So i restarted Grounded 2 and now i get the same error. Does anyone have a idea? It seems to be a start of a solution, or at least that is our hope. 

 

Yeah I was playing and my game crashed on Series X and now my save files are gone and if I try to goto multiplayer it just says “You must log in to an Xbox Network account and have an active internet connection to play Grounded 2 online.” 

So I have some insight but only for PC users. But my friend had the same problem and he updated his BIOS and now the multiplayer is working for him hope this info can help others 

I updated BIOS as suggested and it's still not working. Thank you though 

I'm seeing the same as above.  I tried Game Pass version, Steam version, Xcloud version, all report the same error message.  My wife who plays on the same Xbox as I does not have this issue.  The newest update did not fix this issue.  

I highly suggest that if you're having this issue and haven't posted here, to do so.  This isn't getting enough attention at Obsidian to be considered a high priority issue as of 8/9.

 

This just happened to me last night. Ive been back and forth on my pc and rog, and haven't had a single problem until now. My wife and I are both bummed since we always play together. She plays on xbox and doesn't have this problem. Not that its a huge deal, but she's a bit disappointed we lost our shared world. But for the moment we're pretty much stuck to single player. Really hope they can get this fixed soon!

Still cant access multiplayer.  tried to even create new account and stuck on infinite login loop with live login.

Chiming in to say that this is also an issue for me. I tried replying to a previous email I'd received from support, saying this issue was supposed to be fixed, to tell them that it was, in fact, not fixed. Crickets since. Super frustrating.

Same issue here. Been doing this since launch day of Early Access. Xbox Series X, S, Cloud and PC.  Super frustrating!!!!

My husband and I played without big problems on PC. Some freezes and crashes on my side, he is the host without any problems.

Suddenly today his game crashed and now he couln't host or join any multiplayer session: "There was an error connecting to the multiplayer service. Please check your connection an try again."

We tried every solution from the internet - nothing worked.

Unfortunately he also can't play Grounded 1 in MP since this problem occurs.

 

I hope there will be a hotfix for this problem asap, because now we can't even play Grounded 1 together.

For some reason it seems to be working again for me. We've tried to log in everyday to no avail, but just a minute ago it just worked.

Has anyone found a solution for this? I've had the same window where I can't invite anyone but I can play solo just fine. 

Has there been any fix or workaround for this? I'm pretty sure I've had this issue since the beginning and just passed it off initially as "might not work yet", but I've been trying to play multiplayer over the last couple updates and it doesn't work at all. All I get is "You are not logged in to Xbox Network or network could not be reached" when I try to add friends, and just server error if I try to join and search for games.

Still having the same issue, my game won't even load saves. I have to import and manually save then export. Also if I try to load an auto save it won't even recognize it. This is kinda crazy they are having this issue and completely ignoring the community and not acknowledging the issue with logging in.
