We built our complex (we went overboard and it is way too big to call a house) right in front of the "Snackbar" ranger outpost next to the huge black rock. I layed down some clay and scafolding for foundation to get our first floor up off the ground. We have not had one scorpion the entire time we have been there. Lots of needed resources around, big stump with a sap clump, clovers, consumable creatures and obviously the station right at our front door which is nice, it is near the ant hill south entrance too which is great for certain mineral resources and eggs. Biggest downside is it is a little far from the rest of the map but the tradeoff is it is super quiet. Zero agro bugs pass by or get too close.

We have built our main HQ project on the wooden deck in front of the snack bar. Aside from the occasional mosquitos, we have quick access to farm most resources.

Honestly, I didn’t think it would support building but I’m so glad it does!

Snackbar Ranger Outpost is the best place to build, simply because the scanner, 2nd is the deck because of flatness but a bomb bettle lives up there

If you’re looking for scorpion free, there’s a stack of wood holding up one of the legs of the snack bar that’s easily accessible right at the start of the game and it’s really close to the Ranger station.

There’s also the log fence that goes around the picnic table area and a fair portion of those logs have ropes going between them that you and/or your buggy can use to go between them. You can build bridges between the ones that are not setup for walking on the ropes.

There are several trees in the yard where if you build upwards towards where mushrooms that are on them you’ll also find a fairly safe location from scorpions.

The podium comes with some enemies around the bottom and on top, but there are some sections at the top that let you build out from it giving you a very high base.

Just as a general concept.  The pathing of creatures can often be adjusted by putting down walls that prevent them from crossing.  The AI will see this as something that cannot be passed and they look for an alternate path.  Similarly if you put up a set of stairs that helps them they will also use it.

Using this tech I locked out the Ranger Outpost: Ceremony location because of its infinite water and PTS system.  The PTS system goes west to Ranger Outpost: Trash Bags where I have a second defensive location built for when the raids come in.

Occasionally a scorpion will wander up to my walls and look at them.  If I leave it alone it will eventually leave but often I'll just kill it away from my base.  I just wanted to keep them away from damaging it.  It has completely stopped the Wolf Spider from wandering through my camp though.
