Xbox account required every time I click multiplayer

My friend is having this issue constantly. Bought the game on steam, and has an active xbox account. Every time he clicks multiplayer (with or without cross play enabled) he gets Xbox account required error.

My game works fine, but even me logging into his steam from my PC and trying it, the error still happens.

Did a lot of research on it, nothing has fixed it. Any help?

Having the same issue. Its super frustrating...

I can not click Multiplayer. Keeps giving me the message that I need Xbox Live and an Internet Connection. I've tried my Xbox Series X, S, Cloud and PC.

My wife's account works flawlessly. My siblings can play no problem.

3rd day and I havent been able to play yet...

  3. Adjust your preference.

  1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
