AhhhMyBucket Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I was looting a mosquito beak while having a full inventory and pressed E while hovered over a blade of grass. I took out the omnitool, unequipping my weaver daggers and placing the beak in my inventory. The daggers are not on the ground nor in my inventory. I had this issue occur last night with the same scenario, spamming e to loot and hovered over a grub, lost those daggers too from taking out the shovel and looting a grass fiber. Guessing when the game sees your inventory full and you take out the omnitool, your weapon is held in an extra inventory space. Having the tool out equips that specific omnitool to your strong hand, while your weapon is not deposited into your inventory. Perhaps also having the torch auto-equip with the omnitool since it is not equipped with the dual daggers is causing an issue with the opening inventory space on omnitool use. Anyone else experienced this? 1
warebear Posted August 6 Posted August 6 I get this as well, had a larvalance disappear while fighting too close to a blade of grass. Creature dies, I go to loot, blade of grass comes over, I pull out Omni-tool and lance is gone. But I've had this happen with only half an inventory so it's not due to inventory space.
tecknotot Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Prior to yesterday's update, my main weapon also disappeared and not sure what happened. It was not thrown or anything. I was using the Red Ant Club then a moment later I noticed the Bind icon was transparent and the weapon disappeared.
AmphHitter Posted August 7 Posted August 7 YES! Glad to see I'm not the only one. Yesterday I lost my Wolf Stringer and at first I wondered what could've happened, since I occasionally had lost a weapon before by accidentally throwing it away. Except normally I'd either find it back pretty easy with the little icon that pops up or if I didn't find it again right away I'd probably come across it some other day by coincidence. Except yesterday I couldn't have thrown it since you can't throw the bow's. So after searching for about half an hour and removing all grass and other thing from the surrounding area I finally gave up. Today however, I was pretty much in the same area and I shot 2 aphid's with the unique staff Heatwave (since I didn't have my bow anymore). Upon looting I also pulled out my omnitool since I stood right next to a peace of grass. When I tried to back-up to adjust my position a little bit the omnitool got stuck in a loop and kept swinging at the grass even though I already backed up out of reach of the grass. Now I tried to equip the staff again, except the image in the circle was grayed out and when I checked my inventory it was gone. I was scratching my head and looked around again, cursing myself for throwing away another weapon (see staffs can be thrown). Since it was a unique weapon I am unable to craft another one, so I kept searching for over 3 in game days and nights and was determined to find it, but to no avail. After the 3rd day I finally gave up, marked the spot with a burial trail marker to never forget where I lost it. Then I went here and to my surprise i saw your post. Yes this is what has to have happened to me to, because I was surprised that I couldn't find it anywhere, since it just happened. I guessed maybe it fell through the floor or something, but your description makes way more sense. Thanks for sharing and hopefully they fix this soon. Thanks again! Ps. Does anyone know if there is any way the devs would be able to return the weapon to me? Since it is a unique one and I can't craft it again in this save.
Matthew James Posted August 7 Posted August 7 @AmphHitter Are you able to go back to an earlier auto save where you still have the weapon equipped. I did that and just been careful to keep some inventory space clear now until fixed.
Etherstorm Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Yeah had this as well, but haven't had it happen again since update
Matthew James Posted August 8 Posted August 8 This happened to me too but only since the last update. It seemed related to either using the omni-tool or getting on the buggy and equipping the torch with a full inventory. Somehow the automatic unequipping of my stave meant it disappeared from my inventory - it wasn’t dropped, thrown etc. Fortunately, I realised straight away and reverted to an earlier save. It hasn’t happened since but I’ve been careful to leave some empty inventory slots.

See I hardly ever use saves to go back in time, so I simply didn't think about it. Now I think I'm at least 20 in-game days further (if not more). I will check if there's still a save that has that far back. I'll let ya know. Thanks for your comment though!

I was able to find a save where I still had the weapon, although as I already suspected more than 29 in-game days already had passed. I did make a standard copy of that save to have it still if I'd want to go back that far some day, but since I've also acquired 4 of the other unique weapons and did a lot of other thigs in the meantime so I'm not sure if I'm gonna go back that far for just that weapon. It would be nice to have them all (since that's kinda the point of collecting them, right), but I'm not really in the mood at this moment to go back almost 30 in-game days because of a bug that is not my fault. I hope there will be a fix for it soon. Until then I agree with previously mentioned work arounds/preventive measures and try to always at all times keep at least 3 or more slots free in your inventory. This way when these circumstances may occur again there is room in your inventory for your weapon to move into. Thanks for helping! Ps. damn the last update really messed a lot of things up tbh.
