I was playing and everything was fine, no crazy FPS fluctuation, haven't got out the first lab and was about to pass the point when the tutorial tells you how to crouch when my PC completely shut down. Now, obviously, my PC ain't worth 10k, but let me assure you it can easily play games like Red Dead Redemption 2 without any stutter, Grounded 1 at max settings as well, Spider-Man Remastered, Xcom 2 with 800 mods, and so on. I'm just making this disclaimer so to not prematurely jump to conclusion that it is a PC problem and not an optimization one. Hope this report is of some use.

I can't edit my post, so here's an amendment to it : I'm playing with my kid, she's playing with my old gaming laptop. She seems to have no issue playing with low settings, the laptop doesn't shut down. It's a 2014 laptop. My PC is much, much more recent than my laptop and yet it completely shuts down a few minutes into the game. I'm confused.

I hope so. My guess is that it is poorly optimized (as expected for an EA) and there may be memory leaks or something that cause huge, unnatural GPU/CPU spikes that force the PC to shut down. And the reason my laptop doesn't shut down is because it throttles performance to stay cool (why my PC wouldn't do the same, I don't have a clue). I mean, there's no world in which it is reasonable that I can play Cyberpunk 2077 and not Grounded 2 lol It has to be an issue on their end and I'll try next week hoping they fix whatever causes this issue.

I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed. I registered an account here with the expectation that doing so would offer some level of support or interaction from the development team. But after more than a month, no one from Obsidian has replied — not just to my thread, but seemingly to most users reporting technical issues.

Right now, the game is putting an unreasonable load on CPU, GPU, and power supply units. Some players, including myself, are experiencing full system shutdowns just trying to play. Meanwhile, games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2 run flawlessly on the same setup.

It would be appreciated to receive at least a basic acknowledgment that this issue is known and being looked into. At the very least, please consider optimizing Grounded 2 so it doesn’t draw more power than necessary. No game of this scope should be stressing hardware more than the most demanding AAA titles on the market.
