Nature vs Nurture quest bugged

I'm getting the exact same bug. I believe I have completed the quest but its still showing a marker where Hermitage used to be

I went to the quest marker( which is still there) and was attacked by the hermit and the surrounding xaurips. No quest activation or completion. I had no quest prior to this I stumbled upon this by exploration. But it appears the quest " nature vs nurture" has bugged for me.

I never new about the nature vs nature quest until after the town burnt down and now I can't even claim the quest cause the farmers have moved location but the quest ! And ability to talk to them hadn't moved. I even went over to the camp cause I reasrched it's location and killed the guy only getting the wolf boots he dropped and not the ring which I want for my build.
