Feathers Stinking

Pretty sure this came with the new update but I've noticed that the feathers are stinking in any water. Not sure if this is a bug or now meant to be but before they didn't and it makes more sense if feathers don't stinking in water. Also yes I know about chopping them with a dagger however I do have it telling me I can't sometimes and that I'm needing a chopping tool. Please can this be changed back.
