Ingame movement cursor flickering

Featured Replies

The ingame movement cursor continually flickers (image attached of the cursor that I mean). Anyone know a fix?

I've tried:
Changing the ingame graphics settings such as fullscreen/windowed, resolution, framerate, vsync, etc.
Forcing Directx11 using the -force-d3d11 command line arg
Setting my mouse polling rate to 125

This issue does NOT occur when playing Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire on the same system.

System:
Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (19045.3324) 64-bit
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 with driver version 536.99
Mouse: Logitech Gaming Mouse G300 with latest driver/software

I found a solution to my own problem. Changing Windows (OS) display scaling to 100% (in the Windows Settings app) fixes it. Scaling is also referred to as DPI in some places.

That kind of cursor flickering usually comes from mouse input conflicts or polling issues, especially in some games that handle raw input differently.

Since you already lowered the polling rate and tested graphics settings, try a few other things:

  • disable mouse acceleration or raw input in the game settings if available

  • run the game in borderless windowed mode instead of exclusive fullscreen

  • close Logitech G Hub or gaming overlays while testing

  • try plugging the mouse into a different USB port

It’s also a good idea to make sure the mouse itself is sending stable input signals. You can quickly check your mouse clicks buttons and polling behavior using tools on Click Test Now.

You can test your mouse here

It helps verify if the mouse is producing unstable input that could cause cursor flickering in games.
