Not recognized as previous host for backup 1.2

Not sure if my and my group are having the same rollback issue as everyone. The only shared save we can load is nearly 100 in game days back, meaning we stand to lose a lot of progress. There's a backup save listed, but it says only the previous host can load the backup. The in game screenshot shows that I'm the previous host, but none of my friends nor myself seems to be allowed to load the correct backup. It gives us all the same warning message, that we weren't the previous host. Given that we all tried to load the save to no avail (it loaded the old one), is our save/progress permanently borked? is there anyway to.. i dunno.. reauthorize who gets to load the backup?
